" The first book near bored me but it caught my interest enough to read book two. So glad I did! The people of Ember are given a new problem....no longer worried of the lights going out they must now figure out how to live in a world scarred by horrible tragedies. They must relearn everything all the while trying to make friends with the town that took them in. Doon and Lina are quite the two little heroes and learning what the see and discover is fascinating. Nit makes one realize what we take for granted today. Never say I'll take care of it tomorrow because one day the tomorrow that comes may not be the tomorrow you know. "

" The second book of the Ember series picks up where the first left off. Now finally outside the city Doon and Lina find a settlement of people who are reluctant to take in the people of ember but do so anyway. Tensions begin to rise as accussations are made about the people of Ember. Food begins to dwindle and it seems as if the town of Sparks will fall into chaos. "

" The sequel to the City of Ember. It didn't have quite the same pace and intensity of the first book in the series, but still an enjoyable read and a good lesson in cooperation. Kept my 8 year old engaged. "
