" I loved John Connolly's Book of Lost Things. I've had this book on my shelf for a couple of years now and when I finally decided to read it and diving into it head-first, being that I loved his Book of Lost Things. I jumped into a pool with no water, unfortunately. I didn't like this one at all. I'm highly surprised I didn't put this down and move on to the next on my read list mid-way through. I also saw the "killer" halfway through. So of course, when I got to the end, I was highly disappointed. Disappointed and depressed. I've only had one other book depress me this much and that book was Hater. I hated Hater and I pretty much hated this book just as equally. I've heard this series gets better, but being that I was so let down with this book, I don't think I'm going to continue on with the Charlie Parker series. There are way too many other books and writers to give a shot and if I want a definite enjoyable read, I'll just stick to Don Winslow if I want a suspense, keep me somewhat guessing, with cool-ass characters, type of book. So far, I haven't read anything that comes close to Don Winslow. He, thus far, is my go to author, most definitely. And thought for sure, just maybe, John Connolly would join that rank as well. Well, it's on to the next one. Hold up, give me my money back, please! "
