" I loved this book, maybe because I was in a "husband hating" phase at the time I read it and the story is about a woman whose husband disappears and she discovers that she didn't know him nearly as well as she thought she did. I read this in about a day and wanted more. "

" Laura Frye has it all; perfect house, husband, kids and career. But looks can be deceiving. One night her husband Jeff doesnt come home. Immediately she thinks the worst and calls the hospitals and police. That is until the FBI shows up to investigate Jeff for filing tax returns on dead people. Laura comes to find out that her perfect husband was a crook and has left her and her children to fend for themselves. Her perfect kids are falling apart in light of a rape charge against her son and her daughter trying to find someone who has time for her. Her perfect career, her pride and joy "Cherries Restaurant" is loosing business due to the publicity and to top it all off, her brother in law and former lover is back. Laura finds out the hard way that being perfect and competent is too much for some to handle. "

" When I first started the book, I didn't know how the story would last to be the length of the book in my hand. It did not disappoint. The book is about Laura, who's seemingly perfect life is shattered when her husband disappears one day. Soon enough the IRS are on her case because of all the fraud she finds out her husband has been committing for years. She has no money, and few people to turn to. Throw in her ex-lover and brother in law, Christian, a rape charge on her son, and a secret with her best friend and you've got enough suspense and intrigue to keep this novel going for a long time. The loose ends all get tied up easily enough at the end, without giving it that happily ever after perfect ending. I had a hard time putting this one down once I got a little bit into the story. I just had to know where Jeff was and why, and what happens to Laura. "

" When one hears the term a woman betrayed we naturally think of a wife betrayed by a husband, and that is part of the story. But there is betrayal within the betrayal in this story. And it's hard to say which betrayal hurt the most. A very good read. "

" It read too much like a cheesy soap opera (overly dramatic, predictable, everyone sleeping with everyone) and the ending was totally unrealistic. Maybe I'm giving the FBI too much credit, but I highly doubt they would not see through what happened and realize it was a trick. "
