Publisher Description

Just after the events of Star Trek Generations, on the planet Veridian III, ambassador Spock comes to the humble cairn, or stones, that marks the grave of James Kirk. But he is not granted time to ponder the passing of his best friend. The Borg and the Romulan Empire have a use for Kirk, and with some mysterious alien science they resurrect the fallen captain, who they hope will give them the edge they need to destroy their greatest enemy, Jean-Luc Picard. It will take the combined powers of both generations, from Spock and McCoy to Data and Riker, to meet this almost unthinkable new threat.

" Shatner's ego at it most inflated. He brings Kirk back to life and has him defeat the enemies of The Next Generation. Only the first of many books where Kirk is the savior of the future generation. A good read though. "

" This book is o.k. The storytelling takeaway here is you should never bring back a beloved character who was killed in a previous story. I can't think of a single time that has gone well. "

" So good. So what if this whole series flies in the face of canon? I look at these books as fictional stories that would be told about Kirk within the ST Universe. The fiction within the fiction, you see. "

" It reads like any of the hundreds of Spock and Kirk meet as teenagers fanfiction floating around the internet complete with massive amounts of angst and unrealistic even for Star Trek feats. It's not an awful read, but it's not great either and the premise has been done much better before. "
