Publisher Description

Captain Kirk, facing retirement and the end of his adventurous career, accepts the offer of a mysterious woman to undertake a voyage to an uncharted planet, where a serious threat to the fragile peace between the Federation and the Klingons may be brewing. There he also finds a nearly irresistible temptation -- a chance to recapture his faded youth.

"I gave this five stars simply because I listened to it on audio (needed something to listen to while driving) and it was read by William Shatner. It's hilarious. He does impressions of castmembers from TOS and TNG, DS9, Voyager... Oy vey. Plotwise, the story is like the ultimate Star Trek fanfic with Kirk as the ultimate Mary Sue. But Shatner's impression of Picard is... amsuing, to say the least."

" If it can be said that William Shatner, the man who played Captain James T. Kirk, has written a Mary Sue, this is a Mary Sue. It's Kirk's ultimate fantasy about his final days. "

" I'm not really into graphic novels. My son liked it and asked if I wanted to read it. So as a Star Trek fan I decided I'd look at it. The graphic novel is based on Shatner's 300 page book. I'm sure the book must be better than the graphic novel. "

" I was completely surprised how much I enjoyed this book, particularly the plot. However, it requires good deal of selective blindness to tolerate Shatner's ginormous ego. Kirk is an expert in Klingon martial arts? Seriously?... "
