Hunter Bell, a Presbyterian minister, runs away from God and his troubles and immerses himself in the rough world of gold mining and gambling. He distances himself from any true feeling, until he meets Quaye, the abused wife of Jak. It's a little sappy at times. But the message is clear - everyone is worthy of love, gentleness, and grace through God. "
