Julian of Norwich (c.1342–c.1416) was a reclusive medieval English mystic and spiritual writer. She was an anchoress at the church of St. Julian, Norwich, where she received sixteen visions, which she recounted as she lay on what was believed to be her deathbed. Her miraculous recovery from that illness led to twenty more years of reflection and contemplation and finally to her writing about her visions in Revelations of Divine Love.
