Listener Opinions

" Continuation. I really like the Chicano twist to the typical urban fantasy. The main character is likeable, too. Definitely recommend this series. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sandy | 2/6/2014

" I admit a secret enjoyment of vampire stories. This one's ok--it's a quick, enjoyable read but not too memorable. It's actually a sequel but I haven't read the first one. It has some nice points (sun blocking makeup so the vamps can go out in daylight, national network of vampires) but it's basically a cheesy vampire novel. It would make a good beach read. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Robin | 1/29/2014

" After two books, I still find Acevedo's writing style choppy, but I like Felix Gomez enough to keep reading. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jp | 1/5/2014

" Enjoyed it. It's nice to see a vampire PI that's actually trying to hide it from the world. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jeremy Preacher | 12/29/2013

" Also not as trashy as it sounds, but a good solid private-detective story with bonus supernatural politics. I like this guy. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Emily | 12/27/2013

" good stronger than his first great "dont forget to read my next book" ending "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Jen | 12/21/2013

" I thought the first book was better. But I'm moving on to third, we'll see how it goes. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Denni | 11/28/2013

" Sequil to Nymphos Of Rocky Flats, the continuing saga of a vampire PI. The hero has worked through his angst of the first book. Lots of action, interesting cast of characters, and the plot wraps up nicely without much help from the hero. Good reading but not a keeper. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Melissa | 11/23/2013

" Funny and easy to read. Not a lot of depth. Don't expect it to be anything like an Anita Blake adventure. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Craig | 10/6/2013

" Cool sequel. These are not your normal vampires. Don't let his titles push you away. I liked the change Mario puts into this series. Sure it's not rocket science, but then we are talking about vampires. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 April | 9/29/2013

" Really good. I enjoyed this series. Felix cracks me up with his dry wit! I love his friends as well!! Loved Coyote and hope to see more of him in the future! Don't let the titles scare you these are not sex books! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Yasmin | 8/14/2013

" it was a cute book. it linked two things i like. beans and vampires. muhahaha! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Lori | 6/21/2013

" This is a quick read - despite being a bit embarrased at the barnes and nobel for picking up all of Mario Acevedo's books - its pretty good so far. It's a really fun, quick read. Not as X-rated so far as you'd think by the title! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Theresa Nash | 9/30/2012

" Though no closer to understanding why I like this author, I bought the second in the series. I still like it. A lot. Maybe I'm odder than I thought. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Leon | 7/26/2012

" This book got overtaken by more interesting books but I was able to finish it off. Full Review => X-Rated Bloodsuckers Review. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 John Hart | 7/25/2012

" A clear improvement over the first novel, with more details on the structure and culture of the supernatural world. The Publisher's Weekly review of it on Amazon.com was dead-on. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Carol | 7/6/2012

" Another funny, yet intriguing vampire mystery from Mario. After meeting Mario last summer, I now see where he mines some of his material. Excellent! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Al | 12/3/2011

" I like Mario Acevedo's way of writing. A bit of wry humor there. Definitely unusual characters. Hard to put down. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Dolores | 11/28/2011

" If you judge a book by its cover, this one would have won the I won't read award. However, this is a delightful vampire book that is focused on Los Angeles. Absolutely geared to walk the native through local haunts and new ideas. Good summer read. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Katie | 10/19/2011

" A solid story. The mystery was well done. Bit of a slow start but the second half made up for it. Interesting new vampire world and an actual mystery. I was happy 3.5/5 stars "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Vikki | 7/17/2011

" Book #2 in this vampire series. Acevedo brings his own background and experience to the novels and gives us a unique view and a new spin on the "monsters". "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kim Parkinson | 5/22/2011

" Audio. Good follow up story from the first and leads into the next nicely too. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Dustin | 4/12/2011

" I'll check out his next book. It wasn't as good as The Nymphos of Rocky Flats but it provided a good PI noir vibe as well as a look into the vampire mythos Acevedo creates. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Ann (Noumena12) | 3/27/2011

" Of course a book written by a MALE author is centered around the porn industry and is full of cliches. The only reason I finished this was because I needed an "X" for my A-Z title challenge. Then I realized I paid $9.99 for this book. OMG Just shoot me! "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Cassie | 3/14/2011

" I really didn't like this. It was the 2nd in the series. I wasn't thrilled about the first one, but thought I'd give the series another shot. It was just a bit ridiculous. I'm not going to continue the series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 KarmaKittie | 3/11/2011

" I really love Felix Gomez....nothing like a badass vamp detective who still shows his "human" side, no matter how much he fights against having one. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Meghan | 10/8/2010

" 2.5 stars. I just kept thinking, "why would he do that"? Nothing the main character made any sense to me. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Michele | 9/6/2010

" So far this is a very entertaining series! "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Alison | 6/28/2010

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jo | 3/27/2010

" Felix Gomez, vampire private detective, investigates the murder of a porn star and a vampire-human alliance. Well, it ain't gonna win any awards for literature but it's a decent waste of a few hours. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Penny | 3/26/2010

" I loved this, well written and funny. I have both the e-book and the audio book. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kim | 1/2/2010
