"The title caught my eye! I'm not a big vampire fan. But, this series is so totally different and off the wall, I'm anxiously awaiting the 4th book! Mario Acevedo is sort of like the Carl Hiaasen of vampires."

" Free kindle read. I haven't read much urban fantasy from a male standpoint but this was an interesting read. A new take on vampires is never a bad thing and this was set in Colorado, which added some local interest. Lots of action, lots of story and (for me, anyhow) a surprise ending. Solid storytelling. "
— Sarah, 2/18/2014" A good trashy read, but not good enough to send me to the shelves in search of more work by this author. Vampire fiction with an army/government conspiracy added in. "
— Jenny, 2/7/2014" Way better than any sparkly vampire crap. ;) "
— Bill, 2/6/2014" Like all of Mario Acevedo's books, it's title is far more lurid than it's contents. It's a Mystery story with his Vampire Detective solving a medical mystery that may have something to do with Government secrets and unusual radiation exposure. "
— Joseph, 2/5/2014" An entertaining enough book, but not really to my taste in the end. However, I still love the title and cover. "
— DarkHeart, 1/20/2014" I hate war books. This was no exception. Didn't make it past the 2nd chapter. "
— Alex, 12/28/2013" Vampire detective fiction. A new genre for me, but a lot of fun. "
— Lauren, 12/27/2013" Pretty good but not enough sex. "
— Leann, 12/23/2013" Interesting take on vampire society. I loved the cocky attitude of Felix. Started #2 right after this one and #3 is waiting on my bookshelf. "
— Rachel, 12/22/2013" Amusing and completely absurd. Not really what I was expecting. "
— Amanda, 12/20/2013" An odd mix of vampires, military cover-ups, and trashy novels. Acevado is able to pull it all together, but one wonders if the titles of his books are better than the actual books themselves. "
— M, 12/14/2013" Got about 2/3 way through and gave up. Started Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead and this one really paled in comparison. "
— Julie, 12/7/2013" The first of another urban fantasy series, but with a decidedly different style than what I've previously read. I actually really liked it. "
— Emily, 11/22/2013" This was a funny book, with some original stuff, but for the most part, not great, just good. "
— Joe, 8/22/2013" Nymphos of Rocky Flats by Mario Acevedo didn't appeal to me. I thought the main character was a bastard and an idiot. "
— Lawrence, 6/13/2013" I was pretty disappointed in this book. The main character was unsuccessfully macho, and though the plot was quirky, it didn't really catch my attention. Also - for a book with "nymphos" in the title, it has surprisingly little sex. "
— Dani, 12/26/2012" While I found the book to be a fun read, I was not enamoured with the authors writing style or the story as a whole. Characters were kinda cliche and poorly developed. All in all, it read like a second rate attempt to mimic the Dresden Files, but with a vampiric protagonist. "
— Nevereverend, 2/16/2012" I had to read this for a class. It's not my favorite vampire novel. Perhaps, I need to read it again. "
— Michelle, 11/30/2011" Interesting concept but mediocre execution. Also tries a little too hard to be too cool for school. "
— George, 11/28/2011" i didn't like the weird twist at the end but overall the book was good "
— Sarah, 8/30/2011" Quite poorly written. I heard the second one is better, but I don't know if I have the heart to try. Throw all the urban-fantasy cliches you can gather into a big blender and out comes this. "
— Jack, 6/12/2011" Ok, I bought this for the setting near to where i live and because i drove by rocky flats for years and have even been inside but I will have to sy i bought for the tightl and its contents and its rather quirky hero. The story is actually good but I might say its good urban too "
— Kenton, 5/14/2011" Read this book because the husband discarded it. "
— Charina, 5/5/2011" I liked the overall concept and story of the book. It seemed a little rushed at times but overall not a bad read. I would read the next in series. "
— Wendy, 4/16/2011" I had completely forgotten reading this book until I saw the cover again. I remember thinking it was AWFUL. I read it right after Lovely Bones, which was much better. Go read that instead. Nymphos indeed. "
— WeyrCat, 4/8/2011" The only, ONLY reason I finished this book is because it is short. Acevedo is not a terrible writer, but I guess he's just cashing in on the vampire craze. "
— Leo, 3/8/2011" Interesting. Of course I had to read it because it was about vampires. And it was definitely unique. Just not that great. "
— Tammy, 3/1/2011" Interesting take on vampire society. I loved the cocky attitude of Felix. Started #2 right after this one and #3 is waiting on my bookshelf. "
— R, 2/5/2011" Another easy, entertaining read. I'm not itching to read the next book but wouldn't mind spending a little more time with these characters. "
— Luci, 1/24/2011" Fun series and great characters. "
— Chase, 1/15/2011" I had to read this for a class. It's not my favorite vampire novel. Perhaps, I need to read it again. "
