RITA Award nominee Karen Witemeyer is acclaimed for her winning blend of history, humor, and romance. In this heart-stirring tale, repentant ex-convict Levi Grant comes to Spencer, Texas, in 1887-hoping to put his past behind him and start out fresh as the town's new blacksmith. To promote civility, Eden Spencer runs her own lending library, where she discovers Levi's love of literature. But just as romance begins to bloom, Eden learns of Levi's prodigal past.

"I am quickly becoming a Karen Witemeyer fan! After reading Short Straw Bride and really liking it, I immediately started To Win Her Heart and loved it! Usually, although I enjoy a book, there are a few little things about it that keep it from a 5 star rating. I have nothing negative to say about this one though. I loved both Levi and Eden and the struggles they had to overcome. I really enjoyed the fact that the author chose not to focus on Levi's past but to start the story in the present and give us enough background throughout the story to connect us to his previous struggles. It was refreshing to see a man that didn't change because of a woman but because he was convicted by his sin and rebellion and motivated to change on his own before he even meets her. I'm normally a little turned off by strong female leads who are confident and assertive because the authors go too far in trying to show their spirit that they just come off as rude and uppity. That was not the case here. Eden could hold her own in every situation but was shown to have a softness and vulnerability that helped me relate to her. Seeing God open her eyes to her sin was beautiful. I actually got teary (which I don't often do from a book) in a few places at the end including the fight scene which had me clicking "next page" on my Kindle as fast as I could :0) To top it off, the romance was just about perfect for me. Of course there was nothing explicit or lusty but the reader was allowed inside their heads enough to know their true feelings for one another. I can't wait to start reading A Tailor-Made Bride next!"

" This is the 2nd Karen Witemeyer book that I have read this week. I am looking forward to reading more in the future. I LOVE how all of her books end "Happily Ever After". This is a great book. "
— Carla, 2/18/2014" I really wanted to give it 2 1/2 but I sided with 3. I found this book hard to read in some areas. I would put it down and not go back to it for days. It just never really held my interest. I did like the storyline it had plenty of potential. But the book was not as intriguing as it could have been. "
— Holly, 2/16/2014" Borderline I LOVED IT AND THIS IS ON MY ALL TIME FAVORITES LIST!!!!!!! I definitely loved it, this book hit a little higher than I LOVED IT (it deserves about a million more exclamation marks) but i usually dont put this type of book on my all time favorites list, it lacks the extra push factor. karen Witemeyer: I LOVE YOUR PLOTS. uncliche and wonderfully brought together!! A few pages in i was hooked, i could see the secrets and different sides of the story starting to emerge and i was rubbing my hands in anticipation. The climax did not disappoint. My heart was breaking for Levi and Eden (The names here are MUCH better than in the A Tailor-Made Bride) Speaking of characters it was considerably uncliche. Eden was a bit more mediocre then levi whom i ADORED with all my heart. There were a few eye rolling rough spots but nothing that interrupted flow XD (im overusing uncliche and parantheses) the subject like the theme of forgiveness connects just as well with our daily lives as the last book beauty did! One thing Karen witemeyer does beautifully is connect a main theme with her readers WITHOUT sounding preachy. Not that i mind preachy books but some people do. Overall i love her books, her plot, her characters, her theme, and i cant wait for more!!!! "
— ♥Caro♥, 2/6/2014" I'm not generally a romance reader but this came highly recommended and was pretty fun. A quick, light read, my only complaint is that the author seems obsessed with her female characters " lowering their lashes". Apparently that makes you desirable. Good to know. "
— Sarah, 1/24/2014" If you like Christian romance this is a good one for you. I sometimes stay away from this genre because I feel like it gets too preachy sometimes. I am definitely a Christian but when I'm reading a novel I don't always like long passages of scripture being quoted. I have to admit I usually scan this part of the story. What I like about To Win Her Heart is that the story line had some good principles to keep in mind (i.e., not judging others, truly believing that you can be forgiven) without going overboard on the preachy side. "
— Michelle, 1/23/2014" A new favorite! I really enjoyed how faith gave the characters an added depth to their personalities and the story. I almost gave it 4 stars because it's pretty predictable, but I really enjoyed it anyway. =) "
— Laura, 1/19/2014" Another cute one by Witemeyer. They are a little preachy and very predictable. This unlikely pair, a convicted felon blacksmith and a librarian, have a good, clean rainy day love story. "
— Susan, 12/30/2013" I really enjoy a book that expands my vocabulary. This one did a great job. I used my Kindle to look up several words as I read even though I was reading a softcover copy. "
— Jackie, 12/6/2013" This was such a wonderful book, it had me crying and laughing. I just loved this book. "
— Shawn, 11/24/2013" This one was a quick fun read!! "
— Cheri, 11/16/2013" I like a good story, and while this may not be great literature in the world's eyes, it was clean, Christian, and an escape story. :) Easy read, pleasant, good. "
— Julie, 1/6/2013" I thought this book was charming. The hero was big, strong, and... had a lisp that he tried to conceal by never saying words with the letter "s". I loved it! "
— Sheralyn, 7/15/2012" I really loved this book. The characters are so well developed. I only wish that the ending was more developed and maybe had a future insight. but other than that, I love this author. "
— Caitlin, 7/2/2012" This was a good one, but I think I liked the authors other books better. "
— Candice, 3/24/2012" I thought this book was charming. The hero was big, strong, and... had a lisp that he tried to conceal by never saying words with the letter "s". I loved it! "
— Sheralyn, 10/14/2011" Cute story with great dynamics between the two main characters. The tension was understandable and the way they reacted to situations made sense. Overall a quick and entertaining read. "
— Monica, 9/21/2011" I am really enjoying this book. I think that it is cleverly written.

I finished this book an loved it. I really liked the depth of the characters. I also quite enjoy reading books in this time period. "
— Jennybug, 9/16/2011" Karen hit this one out of the park again! Love her style of writing! I'm always captured into the book and have a hard time putting it down. "
— Sherry, 8/17/2011" This book is just a simple sweet story with redemption and second chances. I love a good ol' western romance now and then and this one did not disappoint! "
— Erika, 8/4/2011" Loving this! What a way with words.

Totally loved this booked! Each character was crystal clear in my mind and well presented. A delightful and relaxing read that kept me turning pages and wanting to skip ahead. "
— Patty, 7/21/2011" Karen Witemeyer's books are nice for me to read because she believes not only in happy endings, but has her very real characters turn to things like scriptures and prayers (and no, she's not LDS) as a way to help them solve their problems. "
— Laura, 7/16/2011" Love love love heroes with a dark past and this was no exception. Levi is such a great hero and the heroine is his perfect match. Excellent and highly recommended! "
