Publisher Description

Zarathustra, is a prophet who has spent years in solitude in the mountains, seeking enlightenment. He eventually descends from the mountains to share his wisdom with humanity. Throughout the book, Nietzsche presents his ideas on a variety of topics, including morality, religion, the nature of existence, and the human condition. He challenges traditional views on these subjects, advocating for a new, individualistic perspective that encourages the pursuit of one's own path in life. "Thus Spake Zarathustra" is known for its poetic and often cryptic language, as well as its challenging ideas. It has been interpreted in many different ways, and remains a cornerstone of Nietzsche's philosophy. Read in English, unabridged.

About Friedrich Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900) was a nineteenth-century German-born philosopher and classical philologist. He wrote critical texts on religion, morality, contemporary culture, philosophy, and science, using a distinctive German language style. In 1889 he exhibited symptoms of insanity and lived his remaining years in the care of his mother and sister. His ideas exercised a major influence on several prominent European philosophers, including Martin Heidegger, Albert Camus, and Jean-Paul Sartre.
