When a surprise October blizzard hits Panama, Vermont, blanketing the sleepy little town with several feet of snow, it creates a scene so tranquil no one suspects the tragedy to come, least of all Bree Miller. Slipping and sliding as she walks home from the diner where she works, she barely has time to notice the runaway truck skidding toward her until it is too late. She awakens in the hospital, remembering little of the accident or the hours thereafter, except for a very bright light, a beatific smile, and a mystical nonvoice granting her Three Wishes.
Tom Gates is the accident's only witness. New to town, he is a bestselling author who turned his back on his family for the sake of fortune and fame. Now, rejected by both family and friends, he is in Panama to rethink his life. Bree becomes his cause.
For self-sufficient, independent Bree, life changes dramatically. Suddenly within her grasp are those things she always wanted most -- a home, a soul-mate, a family. But there is unfinished business -- the mother who abandoned Bree when she was an infant, the family Tom misses deeply, the child doctors say Bree can never have. And there are still those Three Wishes.
But are those wishes real? And if they are, at what price?

"It was the most emotional book I have ever read. Was so different from your "happily ever after" romance novels. A very unexpected ending. I am glad I read it, but wouldn't read it again, because I know the ending. If you like heavy emotional other than the just sex and romance, read this!! One of her best!!"

“Touching and delightful.”
— Chattanooga Times“A heart-tugging story of love and redemption that is surprisingly powerful.
— People“I wish you'd read Three Wishes...This charming novel has a fantastical premise, [but] its themes of redemption and love are powerfully earthbound.”
— Woman’s Own“[A] heartwarming novel...Delinsky’s prose is spare, controlled, and poignant as she evokes the simplicity and joys of small-town life...She capably balances her narrative on the tightrope between spirituality and earthly love.”
— Publishers Weekly“Heartwarming.”

— Minnie, 8/25/2013" A soothing read, but the ending disappoints me. It's like it's written that way just for the shock value. "
— Eve, 8/9/2013" It's hard to explain why I only gave this book one star without giving away some of the major parts of the story. The book is well-written but I was very un-satisfied by the end of it and finished it thinking "WHAT!!!????" "
— Kellie, 5/2/2013" I loved this book because it is so romantic and moving. It has a story line that keeps you reading, and when that third wish was granted my heart ached. This is truly a tale of giving everything for love. "
— Aretha, 4/24/2013" This was the most predictable book I've read in ages. I knew by the fourth chapter exactly how it would end - and I was completely accurate. I only picked this up because I read "While My Sister Sleeps," and liked it. But, I don't think I'll read more of this author. "

— Kimberly, 10/4/2012" I really thought about giving this book a 2 due to the predictability of the book and the sub-par writing. I'm not convinced Barbara Delinsky actually wrote this book...either that or her writing has drastically improved since 1997. I would say I enjoyed it, but I don't recommend it. "
— Allison, 8/8/2012" Predictable and unimaginative is what I remember most of this read. Unfortunately even the writing didn't captivate me, as it was at best bland. "
— Laura, 7/4/2012" Not bad. Some parts of the book I really loved. Overall, I wouldn't describe the book as a "cant put down" kind of story but its a good story to kill some time. "
— Kim, 2/5/2012" Very haunting! I read and reread and still makes me crying! "
— Maggy, 1/18/2012" Perfect Christmas read. Needed tissues toward the end. "
