Like many physicians, Dr. Terry Wahls focused on treating her patients' ailments with drugs or surgical procedures—until she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2000. Within three years, her back and stomach muscles had weakened to the point where she needed a tilt-recline wheelchair. Conventional medical treatments were failing her, and she feared that she would be bedridden for the rest of her life.
Dr. Wahls began studying the latest research on autoimmune disease and brain biology, and decided to get her vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids from the food she ate rather than pills and supplements. Dr. Wahl's adopted the nutrient-rich paleo diet, gradually refining and integrating it into a regimen of neuromuscular stimulation. First, she walked slowly, then steadily, and then she biked eighteen miles in a single day. In November 2011, Dr. Wahls shared her remarkable recovery in a TEDx talk that immediately went viral. Now, in The Wahls Protocol, she shares the details of the protocol that allowed her to reverse many of her symptoms, get back to her life, and embark on a new mission: to share the Wahls Protocol with others suffering from the ravages of multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions.

"The audio book was well read & I enjoyed it very much. The pacing was perfect.I've had MS for 2 months now. The first month was horrible. Couldn't walk, think, had a blind spot in my eye, couldn't type or use the mouse... I thought my life was over. One month later while following the Wahls Protocol, I feel better than I have I 5 years, if not 10. The book itself... changed my life. Terry Wahls is my new personal hero. Her story is touching, even made me tear up sever times. I felt like she was telling my story as she was telling her own. The information inside is amazing & I would highly recommend it to anyone with MS or almost any other autoimmune disease, as they almost all have to do with your mitochondria. Not only do you get very clear instructions on what you should & should not eat, you will also learn a lot about science & autoimmune diseases in general. It also helps that Terry Wahls had Secondary Progressive MS, which is about as bad as it gets with MS. She used her brain, brain fog and all, to study, experiment, and find out the best way to make her self better. This is so much more comforting, since she is a medical doctor. Some sections are a little bit dry, dealing with very specific information about vitamins and supplements, but the rest of the book was interesting & fun to listen to.If you already have the book & are thinking about getting the audio version... JUST DO IT! I had the book for about a month, checked it out a bit, but my brain fog was so bad that it was very hard to read & remember much of what I read. After 4-5 days of listening to the audio version, I made it all the way though & actually remembered most of it. I plan on listening to it again very soon. Bravo!!"
