"Sooooo sad. I just finished the sixth Book by this author. How long will I have to wait for the next one? I really do like this authors books. I am able to escape for awhile. Even though they all end happily I enjoy figuring out all the twists and turns. Some are rather obvious but some are surprising and most are at least interesting. thanks to this author for several hours of pleasure and escape."

“Fans will rejoice with Klassen’s latest sweet, Regency historical love story. The storyline flows fairly well throughout the book, and gothic touches heighten the reading enjoyment. Klassen really knows the era well, and she writes interesting, complex characters.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 stars)" This book did not keep my interest at all. I had to struggle to keep myself reading at times because it dragged. I think the author was trying to build the characters and build the plot but she could have done that in at least a 100pages less if she didn't beat certain things to death trying to build suspense or whatever she was doing. I admit I didn't guess the ending completely, so I was surprised, but by then I didn't really care because I just wanted it to be done. To top off everything (and maybe what was at the center of the problem) the heroine annoyed me quite a bit. I hate it when an author says a character is smart or mature or witty, stating it in a descriptive paragraph or in another character's words, but at the same time, fails to show it in the character's actions or thought processes. Basically I found it hard to completely reconcile the description of the heroine and the way the heroine actually was written. By the end of the books, none of the characters were truly defined to me. I'm only giving it two stars and not one because it did surprise me in the end and that's at least something. (too bad, I was looking forward to this book) "
— Kitkat01, 2/14/2014" I liked it but it wasn't the best of her books. "
— Jenny, 2/9/2014" This book had kind of a dark feeling to it. The tutor and his daughter go and live at a mansion in Cornwall to tutor some boys. There are a lot of secrets and strange things going on. I finished the book but by the end was glad to be done with it. "
— Tiffany, 12/29/2013" Note to potential readers.... DO NOT read the "Author's Note" at the end of the book first. It reveals a major secret in the book that you will not want spoiled! "
— Diane, 12/22/2013" This is the first book I've read by this author and found her writing and story sound enough that I will be recommending her to readers who enjoy this genre. "
— Margy, 11/30/2013" As usual, Julie Klassen continues to entertain! Humor, love, intrigue, and all the other good things that make a great novel! I just had this downloaded yesterday on my kindle - and would love to have another Klasson novel to read now! "
— Judy, 11/21/2013" I loved it. Juile Klassen is my fav. writher. I got this book for christmas and was done by the 29th, I could not put it down. "
— Michal, 11/18/2013" I have read other books by Julie Klassen. She knows how to develop real regency suspense. Now that I have finished it, I read that she based two characters in the story on real people. So I suppose this is more of a historical fiction. "
— Martha, 10/10/2013" I enjoyed this one!!Twists till the end!! "
— Rachel, 9/29/2013" This was pretty good. Although I didn't like it as much as Maid of Fairbourne Hall. "
— Marleah, 9/8/2013" I enjoyed this book quite a bit... My favorite book by her so far. "
— Lacey, 7/30/2013" It was an enjoyable historical fiction. I loved reading about Cornwall. I also enjoyed that some of the events described were based on true occurrences in history. A fun romance and mystery. "
— Jennifer, 6/20/2013" Okay. It was twaddle, but it's very, very sweet twaddle. And I'll keep reading every Klassen book I can get my hands on. "
