This bestselling and innovative debut novel from Audrey Niffenegger explores the perfect marriage, one that is tested by challenges the couple can neither control nor predict. An imaginative extension of everyday life, the story asks: What if two people who loved each other deeply, married, and faced a life in which one person remained constant while the other slipped fluidly in and out of time?
A modern love story with a twist that invites us to linger over questions of how life and love change over time.

"Really great book, Niffenegger does an incredible job weaving the characters and the timelines. I have to say, as a 21-year old guy, I was really touched by the story. Read the book, but whatever you do, don't watch the movie. It was, I do believe, the worst movie I have seen. It's as if the book was cut up, put in a blender, then served with spinach. Characters are missing, it lacks emotion, the plot is so confusing... but at least it has Rachel McAdams."

" This is probably one of my favourite books - I loved it! I am very surprised at the poor reviews. "
— Jo, 2/12/2014" Loved the concept but sure got confused with the back and forth. Definitely a read that requires getting in the zone, rather than reading a snatch here and there. Was totally disappointed in the movie. "
— Katy, 2/8/2014" I really enjoyed this story. Well written and just lovely. "
— Virushka, 2/8/2014" I still cry when I think about this book. Don't let that stop you. It is beautiful in its heartbreakingness. "
— Sarah, 2/1/2014" Overall it was an okay read. At times I found it to be very slow, which in retrospect makes some sense as the general theme of waiting in prevalent in the book. Glad to have read it, but would not read it again. "
— Tabitha, 1/22/2014" Sappy and gooey...ok, it was good :) "
— Nurazian, 1/18/2014" This is actually my favorite book of all time... "
— Malcolm, 1/18/2014" Really enjoyed. As usual, book WAY better than the movie! "
— Stacey, 1/10/2014" I loved this story until about the last 50 pages. The ending was a total let down in my opinion. There was a lot to like about the story, it was well written. But for two people who had such an interesting history, their life together was a drag. "
— Mindy, 1/1/2014" Compelling. read some time ago so can't give a date. "
— Linda, 12/12/2013" very slow, and hard to follow. Honestly, had to watch the movie before reading it a second time to understand it. "
— Katie, 12/3/2013" This book is so much better than the movie! I really enjoyed the characters and the nuances that are not perceptible in the movie. A great break from children's lit. Oh, and I listened to this on audio! "
— NancyJo, 11/23/2013" This book is amazing! I listened to it on audible and found myself sitting in my driveway and listening to it even longer. It is a must read. "
— Agmashburn, 10/12/2013" Knowing the ending about 3/4 of the way through the book made it really hard to keep going. I never wanted to watch the movie version of this book because I had no desire to actually see the ending I had read. "
— Nicole, 5/2/2013" Wonderful. I really loved the book and appreciated that it wasn't predictable. I felt like I was moving through time with Henry. "
— Cynthia, 4/27/2013" Interesting story and fun to follow. There were some beautiful moments t brought me to tears a few times. I just didn't care for the graphic sex scenes. I would have given it four stars had it not been for that. "
— Dustin, 4/2/2013" I almost gave up while reading this novel, probably put it aside for a month or two. My head hurt trying to keep up with the characters and the time in which they were recording events. But my second attempt was successful and I fell in love with the concept. "
— Cam, 2/26/2013" A very interesting concept and a great read. I couldn't help but feel bad for the characters. "
— Coeli, 10/8/2012" I adored this book. I look forward to reading it again. I found the movie a great disappointment when I watched it recently after having such a love affair with the text. "
— Mylissa, 8/4/2012" Although totally unrealistic, it was totally captivating! "
— Chrystal, 6/20/2012" I got completely lost in this book. So sorry to be through with it. It feels like I have lost a close friend. Reminded me of "Shell Seekers" Loved it! "
— Rose, 5/18/2012" Excellent airport/airplane reading (which is where I read it). In that context I'd give it a 5. "
— Jessica, 9/5/2011" I couldn't get past the third chapter! So confusing! "
— Allison, 6/30/2011" I was enthralled! Entranced! Never saw the movie...didn't want to ruin it!<br/> "
— Patty, 6/30/2011" I only read half of this. Interesting idea, but I thought it started getting kind of weird in the middle and I just lost interest. "
— Emily, 6/30/2011" I must be a little to practical for this book...I couldn't see how the time travel would work and saw too many issues with how things were taking place. "
— Cari, 6/30/2011" absolutely beautiful...but so, so sad...deeply sad. almost broken at the end. "
— Sarah, 6/30/2011" After a rough start, it turned wonderful. Really enjoyed it. "
— Ruthanne, 6/29/2011" Interesting conceit but didn't knock my socks off. "
— Ann, 6/28/2011" Creepy, poorly written, boring. Wait, did I mention creepy? I'm never going to understand why someone would pick this up and think it was worth their time. "
— R.J., 6/27/2011" Took me a while to get into it, but halfway through I was riveted. Not too much sympathy for the characters, probably the reason why it took me so long to read. Would recommend it as an entertaining read, no more no less. "
— Marie, 6/27/2011" Engrossing and imaginative. I picked this up while on vacation and have not wanted to put it down -- reading it for hours on end. "
