Publisher Description

Ever since Soren was kidnapped and taken to the St. Aegolius School for Orphaned Owls, he has longed to see his sister, Eglantine, again. Now Eglantine is back is Soren’s life, but she’s been through an ordeal too terrible for words. Deep within Soren’s gizzard, something more powerful than knowledge tells him there’s a connection between these mysterious events.

In order to rescue Ezylryb, Soren must embark upon a perilous quest. It will bring him face-to-face with a force more dangerous than anything the rulers of St. Aggie’s could have devised—and a truth that threatens to destroy the owl kingdom.

"The Rescue is the thired of the Guardians of Ga'hoole series and the last of the three books made into 'the leagrnds of the guardians' movie. The book takes place several weeks after Ezylryb went missing and Soren is getting more and more anchis every passing day. But even more menising is a new thret even whers than St.Aegolius. The Pure Ones have arived. My resonce fore reading this book are the same with the other ones I want to know what happens next and like the rest I think there a bit too short for my liking. I would recomend this book to any one who liked the other ones"

Quotes

  • “Film fans will flock to libraries in search of Lasky’s Guardians of Ga’Hoole series, whether they have read the books previously or are discovering them for the first time.”

    — School Library Journal
  • “[Pamela Garelick] delivers the depth of personality Lasky has invested in her flock of owls and energetically leads us through the plot twists. Garelick’s distinguished yet likable voice is simply wonderful—her lively characterizations of little owls and maternally inclined snakes all delight. She’s also expert at recapping the owl’s complex history so that it’s clear to new listeners, yet fresh for the already familiar.”

" The plot and characters in this series are amazing, but I do think the author's writing style could be improved. Often, her paragraphs only tell the reader what to think, instead of showing them aspects of the story and letting them determine their own conclusions. If not for the style, I would give these books four stars. "

" My son loves this series, and we listened to it together in the car. I haven't read the first two in the series, but saw snatches of the movie. Between that and my son filling me in, I got caught up easily. I didn't enjoy the reader- I have to say that. She made all the owls sound like sissies. The story was a little simple and melodramatic, but again, that may be my problem, coming into a series late in the game. "

" Still rollin' through the Ga'Hoole series, trying to beat the movie. This one is my favorite so far! The suspense picked up, character backgrounds begin to come clear, and there was a slight moment of 'GASP! NO!' at the end. Twelve more books to go and this seriously just got interesting!! "
