The First Man You Meet
Shelly Hansen was horrified when her great-aunt’s wedding dress arrived—because, according to family legend, she was destined to marry the next man she met. So when she tripped on an escalator and fell into Mark Brady’s arms, she told him—and herself—that she wasn’t interested in marriage. But then she started seeing him everywhere.… Coincidence?
Is The Man You’ll Marry
After her own wedding, Shelly sends her best friend, Jill Morrison, the dress—which is delivered to Jill’s hotel in Hawaii. But at least the man she sat beside on the plane—gorgeous grouch Jordan Wilcox—can’t be the man in question, can he? She met him before she got the dress!

"Two fun, sweet stories that are related. The books are about a "magical" wedding dress and center on two best-friends. These are sweet stories, nothing deep. Quick reads, I finished both in a couple of hours. This book would be perfect for a plane ride or a beach read. "
— Amy (4 out of 5 stars)
" Cute little book with one connecting device and two short stories. No sexual exploits but also not much to distinguish it from all the other romances out there! However if you have a short amount of time and need a quick happy escape... this is it! "
— Cary, 2/19/2014" Two light intertwined stories which flowed well into each other. "
— Alice, 2/18/2014" Quick read. Not one of my favorites "
— Sharon, 2/8/2014" Cute little book. It was such a fast read and I couldn't stop smiling the whole time. "
— Elizabeth, 2/1/2014" Macomber knows how to express characters' emotions. I liked the first story and characters best but found it too short. I didn't like the second story as well. As good as Macomber is at expressing character motivation, she didn't convince me that the heroine wasn't being manipulative. The magical dress worked for me in the first story, but not the second. It only seemed like a way to tie the two together and not done very well at that. I never felt any happiness from the second heroine, Jill, and felt sad she wasn't happy on her wedding day. "
— Cindy, 2/1/2014" Very cute short stories, somewhat predictable plot. However the events and circumstances were interesting to read about. Easy light reading. "
— Lucy, 1/31/2014" Light, quick, romantic read. Slightly cheesy premise but the romance always sucks me in. It's actually 2 short stories. I liked the 2nd one a little better. Good vacation-with-no-kids book. "
— Britney, 1/26/2014" I loved the ease of reading these stories. They were quick and wishful. Overall, they were not bad. "
— Maureen, 1/24/2014" story about finding love when your not looking. "
— Robin, 1/21/2014" Light, fast read. I downloaded it for Kindle to try out the new library access from Amazon. I read the first section about how Sally receives the dress and what ensues. Wasn't interested enough to continue to the next part where her friend Jill gets the dress. "
— Jan, 1/21/2014" short, sweet, and cute. Unrealistic timeline for the stories but still cute. "
— Charlotte, 1/20/2014" This was a fun, easy book to listen to. Kind of silly premise, but I liked it. "
— Odetta, 1/20/2014" Very cheesy chick lit. But a good escape if you're looking for a "happily ever after" book. "
— Nancy, 1/20/2014" The first story was 3.5, maybe even 4 stars for fluffy fun. The second was 2 stars, for pushing too many buttons to allow me to enjoy it. "
— Laura, 1/17/2014" I love this book!!! The story was unpredictable. It was definitely not how I imagined it. "
— Pacific, 1/10/2014" story about finding love when your not looking. "
— Robin, 1/9/2014" Light, quick, romantic read. Slightly cheesy premise but the romance always sucks me in. It's actually 2 short stories. I liked the 2nd one a little better. Good vacation-with-no-kids book. "
— Britney, 1/8/2014" 2nd book, continuation of the book I read the other day (the first man you meet). Quick read, about Jill, Shelly's best friend who gets to have the "wedding dress curse" this time.. She meets Jordan in Hawaii and they go thru the phases of falling in love "
— Tara, 12/30/2013" Fun, light read and part of it is set in Hawai'i where we were two years ago at this time:) "
— Joan, 12/25/2013" Cute and clean book. "

— Nancy, 12/15/2013" Ok... so I need some fluff and stuff and Debbie Macomber can always provide that. Just a quick simply clean romantic book that is nice to fill one's day with. "

— Laney, 12/6/2013" Broke my own rule about not reading romance short stories. Yuck. "

— Sabrina, 8/6/2013" I loved the ease of reading these stories. They were quick and wishful. Overall, they were not bad. "
— Maureen, 7/9/2013" The first story was cute but the second one was ridiculus. I never really saw the attraction between the characters. The guy was kind of a jerk and the girl was an idiot. Talk about no communication between the two. Maybe this is a good case for why you shouldn't get married after only a few weeks. "
— Kari, 6/10/2013" Quick read. Not one of my favorites "
— Sharon, 5/18/2013" very easy read...finished it in 2 days. Not a bad book, just not the most exciting! "

— Kel, 4/6/2013" of MB 1/15/2010 "
— Amos, 3/27/2013" This was the first Debbie Macomber book I ever read back in 1990. She became my favorite writer halfway through this book. I love reading her books and finding them in old book stores. "
— Mary, 2/4/2013" A little different than most Debbie Macomber romances. This book contains two separate but related stories. "
— Michelle, 2/1/2013" two stories in one about a magical dress that after you get it the next man you meet is the one you marry. Cute stories, loved the characters as usual. "
— Ande, 12/19/2012" short, sweet, and cute. Unrealistic timeline for the stories but still cute. "
— Charlotte, 11/12/2012" I liked the first half much better than the second story. Hard to put down only because I was ready to be done with it, but did want to know the ending. Would have been enough to only read "The first Man You'll Meet" and skip the second story. "
— Julie, 9/28/2012" I have to say, this is my least favorite Debbie Macomber book that I've read. "

— Pacific, 7/31/2012" toitalky awsome "
— Laney, 6/13/2012" Destiny? This book makes you question it. A good story that takes you back to the 90's (oh yes, the bright colored clothes and feathered hair.) Great story line but the 2 main female chrarcters drove me nuts- they were a bit dramatic and way to stubborn! "
— Jackie, 5/29/2012" 2nd book, continuation of the book I read the other day (the first man you meet). Quick read, about Jill, Shelly's best friend who gets to have the "wedding dress curse" this time.. She meets Jordan in Hawaii and they go thru the phases of falling in love "
