Sabina Kane doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to family. After all, her own grandmother, leader of the vampire race, wants her dead. So when she arrives in New York to meet her mage relatives, the reunion puts the fun in dysfunctional. Not only is mage culture completely bizarre, but everyone seems to think she’s some kind of “Chosen” who will unite the dark races. Sabina doesn’t care who chose her, she’s not into destiny.

But the mages aren’t Sabina’s only problem. In New York’s Black Light district, she has run-ins with fighting demons, hostile werewolves, and an opportunistic old flame. Sabina thought she’d take a bite out of the Big Apple, but it looks like it wants to bite back.

" This book improved from the first. I enjoyed the read and will definetly read the next book!! I am starting to like the main character. I also love the introduction of Shade. He's a cool character and I hope to see more of him. "

" While the first book sucked, the second book improved. I would rate the first book a 2.5 and the second a 3.2. It's a very light and easy read, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. It was a very forgettable book. "

" It only took the first page to bring book one back into focus. It's a pretty good 2nd and I will def continue on. Got to anyway, there is unfinished business that Sabina has to take care of. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Nicole Luiken | 7/31/2013

" A quick, high-action, fast-paced read. Sabina Kane is still not my favourite character (she was raised by vamps and her morality is a little askew) but I found her more sympathetic this book. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Becca | 4/1/2013

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Alexis | 6/8/2012

" This series so far has been good with just enough quirkiness and humor to keep it interesting. It is fast paced with some romance, but not so much that it overpowers the narrative. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Nishtha | 11/13/2011

" I really enjoy this series. Not sure it took me so long to find it. The good thing about starting late in a series, you don't have to wate until the next book comes out. I finished this one tonight, I'll start the next one tomorrow. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Tracey | 5/19/2011

" I did not enjoy this book as much as the first. I have put off reading the next book in the series for now but I will return! "

" This was definately better than the first book. The story was much more interesting, the heroine behaved better, the romance scenes more touching... The first book was simply nice but this was definately better "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Christine | 5/10/2011

" What's the trend with introducing a really great romantic lead in the first book and then taking him away in the second? I don't understand. But he'll be around in the third, so I'll keep reading the series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jessica | 4/28/2011

" the only reason that the mage in black doesn't get five stars is because i guessed a plot twist quite early on.

i've now started book 3, only a few chapters in. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Deviant | 4/19/2011

" Three words action-packed, intriguing, and addictive. I didn't think this series could get any better. I loved the way Jaye Wells keeps throwing in different twists in turns into her plots.

Its nice to read something that isn't predictable. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Melissa | 4/19/2011

" I was hoping this book would be great, since the first one was actually pretty good. And it was. It makes me want to buy the 3rd book. I like Sabina isn't so angry in this one. I was afraid her "strong" angry persona would continue but she's evolving, and that was nice for me. Good read! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lori | 3/26/2011

" And the awesome continues. No "sophomore slump" in this second book in the Sabina Kane series. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Hanneke | 3/18/2011

" Suspecting the bad guy almost before he's done something bad kind of takes the fun out of it. A bit predicable... "

" I tried, but just couldn't get into it. "
