With works such as Swan Song and the historical thriller Mister Slaughter, best-selling author Robert McCammon has proven himself an extraordinarily accomplished storyteller. The Five features a rock band skirting the margins of success while touring the American Southwest. Life on the road, however, takes a strange turn when they encounter an Iraq War veteran. Soon thereafter, violence descends on the group, and their lives are tuned to a terrifying pitch.

"I am definitely rounding up to a four star rating. I wanted to like this book so much more than I actually did. The minor characters like Thor and the dog, Stereo, were more intersting to me than the band. I thought McCammon was going somewhere with the story about Stone Church but it just seemed to fizzle out."
— Jeanne (4 out of 5 stars)
" Brilliant. You feel like you're there with the band experiencing it all with them. "
— Tony, 2/13/2014" I think this is his Best book! Loved it! "
— Deb-oh, 2/7/2014" I don't think this is one of McCammon's best efforts. Usually I cannot put his books down. I pushed myself to finish it simply because McCammon wrote it, and I thought it had to get better. It didn't. "
— Gabby, 2/3/2014" Not my favorite McCammon book but it had me hook, line and sinker! It was so much more than just a story about a rock n roll band's adventure. In classic McCammon fashion I was mesmerized while the characters blossomed and captured my heart. "
— Pambo, 1/27/2014" Best book Robert McCammon has written in a long time. "
— Alf, 1/19/2014" At first, I wasn't sure that I was going to like this, but it actually turned out to be pretty good! It kind of just sucks you in....... "
— Karen, 12/14/2013" If you like Stephen King (his good fiction), this is for you. Throw in some rock n roll, and travel thru the southwest, and I was hooked. Then it was just a matter of 'omg, it's 3 am already and I want to keep reading!' "
— Deb, 12/11/2013" An epic masterpeice. He is one of the best ever. "
— George, 6/20/2013" Try as hard as I could to enjoy the story but I could not do so. It seemed to drag. The last few chapters were pretty good and tied up loose ends but overall I was not impressed. "
— Greg, 2/9/2013" I hadn't read any McCammon in a long time, and I found this. It's wonderful. It has just a hint of the macabre/supernatural; at its core, it's a story of friendship and love. McCammon's writing style is casual and elegant, like listening to a friend tell a story really well. "
— Beth, 10/15/2012" I love mcammons books, but this was a little boring. bring me another shepherd mystery. "
— Linda, 9/12/2012" I Used to Love McCammom's books so much..then he stopped writing for years and years. What a shame. This is one of the best things he has ever done. Good to know he is still as good as ever. "
— Bruce, 7/8/2012" Definitely not my favorite McCammon story. I was pretty disappointed. It took all the way up to page 125 before I even became interested. There was way too much information about musical instruments, band issues and musicians in general. I get that this story is about a band, but seriously TMI. "
— Laurie, 3/23/2012" McCammon impresses again. "
— Carey, 1/18/2012" Just not that good. Was boring and very hard to finish "
— Jeffrey, 1/4/2012
