Amelia "Amy" DeVries, a 24-year-old violinist, is disillusioned with life and love after the collapse of her long-running romance. Weary of endless rehearsals and performances, Amy sets out on a road trip through the Pennsylvania mountains. She leaves her cell phone behind so life's demands can't intrude on her solitude. She doesn't know, nor care, where she will end up. When her car breaks down deep in the mountains, Amy realizes the flaw in her "no cell phone" plan. She abandons her car and walks the winding roads, searching for help. Following the smell of woodsmoke and the sound of music, she finds a rustic log cabin. There she meets a young Amishman--and through him a community--that will change her life forever.

"Lewis is my favorite Amish author and you would think that by default I would give her the highest star rating but I am not that kind of rater. I give stars to those who stars are worthy. I have read all of her books and was in line as this one came out. There is not a lot of books I buy hot off the shelf at semi cover prices but her's I will and I was not disappointed. I don't know how she does it with so many titles but each one gives you a new journey with struggles that relate closely to anyone fancy persons life. This book however is her first that she follows an Amish man leaving his faith. It show's that it is possible to leave the faith and not his roots and his family all while a young women is learning to trust her faith and find a way to live that can honor God and the people around us. A good love story is always a page turner and watching this on unfold has you guessing. How do you know what is right when both are good?"

“Lewis’ presentation of Amish life portrays the advantages and disadvantages of a community with definite rules and a solidarity that can be both enviable and constraining. The musical motifs offer welcome variation on very familiar Amish themes that Lewis renders in virtuoso style. This opens the Home to Hickory Hollow series but stands alone nicely.”
— Publishers Weekly“Lewis begins the Home to Hickory Hollow series with this sweet, engaging romance. As always, the author brings the peace and simplicity of the Amish world to vivid life.”
