From the New York Times bestselling author of The Day After Tomorrow and The Day of Confession comes an all new heart-pounding thriller The Los Angeles Police Department's famed 5-2 squad boards a commuter train in an attempt to take a cold-blooded killer into custody. John Barron, the newest and youngest member of the elite LAPD unit, learns quickly that the 5-2 has their own deadly system of justice, and that even the slightest protest will result in his suffering the same swift fate. Thus begins a dark, explosive struggle between good and evil—pitting Barron's squad against an exceedingly imaginative and brutal killer. Suddenly the game widens when John flees to London with his sister, Rebecca, and they are thrown into a race against time. Pursuing them is a baroness, beautiful and cruel, who will stop at nothing to protect her family, her fortune, and her global ambitions. Her secret—spanning oceans, continents, the collapse of the USSR, even the death of the Tsars—is a stunning revelation that could catapult her to the pinnacle of world power.

"I read this one a year ago but still think about it at times. It is one of the best action/mystery/police chase books I've read and left me wishing for the movie. It is a bit graphically violent though, so if a movie came out, I would probably just end up covering my eyes a lot. Good story though."

Once you start The Exile, forget sleep. Its fierce, complex suspense is fast as a 9 mm slug and tight as a hangman's noose.
— Stephen CoontsHold on tight--from the first scene Folsom spins a tale of page-turning suspense.
— W.E.B. Griffin“Makes The Da Vinci Code look like J. K. Rowling. The Exile is even better than The Day After Tomorrow.
— David Hagberg, USA Today bestselling author" Starts out well and entertains but for me it fizzled out later in the book. Not as good as his priors. Still, 3 1/2 Stars. "
— Caleb, 2/19/2014" A real page turner! Hard to put down!! "
— Lana, 2/7/2014" Excellent; too long tale of a cop who is promoted to a special unit that takes law into its own hands, and the fugitive they track who turns out to be a mass murderer in line to be the new Tsar of Russia "
— Joe, 1/30/2014" This book is definitely a page turner! "
— Laurie, 1/29/2014" This book is predictable, and Folsom goes from one event to a different one. The characters are well constructed, but the final is too abrupt "
— Brenda, 1/20/2014" I love the detailed plot and enjoyed reading it. I figured out one of the plot twists way too early so that was a little disappointing. Folsom needs to stay with plot strength and not try to create character depth-I do not think he does a good job in trying to give us reasons behind behavior. Also, the frequent use of "alright" is very annoying. "
— Celeste, 1/20/2014" Fast read, somewhat unbelievable, but entertaining through out. "
— Linda, 12/23/2013" This was a good suspense novel taking place in L.A. and Europe. Could have been a tad shorter. "
— Joanne, 12/22/2013" This book had so many plots twists and was exciting to read. "
— Naomi, 12/22/2013" an epic style with mystery and crime thrown in "
— Ginny, 11/21/2013" A page turner! Excellent "
— Carrie, 11/17/2013" I listening to this book on CD while commuting and parts/phrases were very repetitive. Otherwise it was a great suspense novel. "
— Fred, 11/6/2013" Very smart novel. Spans a number of geographic areas and they're all held together with an intelligent story and solid characters. Recommended. Also recommended, don't read the back of the book until you've finished the book. Actually I recommend this for just about all books. (c: "

— Stacy, 8/21/2013" Recommended by Candi Prizer. Another great read by Allan Folsom. "
— Wendy, 6/28/2013" one of the best mystery novels I've read in a while. The Exile would make a great movie like the Bourne series. "
— Cindy, 5/29/2013" Slow! Hard time finishing this one. "
— Susan, 2/4/2013" A very long book, over 700 pages, but an outstanding read. The first in a series of at least three. Very exciting with many turns in the story. I really like Allan Folsom as an author. Recommend all three books. "

— Suzy, 3/23/2012" It picked up towards the middle for me. Overall, Folsom never disappoints. "

— Fred, 6/21/2011" Ooooooooooooh! I just love a delicious story that I can't put down ( that doesn't happen a lot !) Whe you first pick it up, you think it's going to be just a typical " LA Cop catches murderer " plot, but the twists and turns are keeping me on my toes. Can't wait to see how it ends! "
— Lynn, 6/6/2011" Recommended by Candi Prizer. Another great read by Allan Folsom. "
— Wendy, 5/2/2011" This book is definitely a page turner! "

— Katie, 1/3/2011" Fast, full of suspense, take your breath away adventure. "
— Stacy, 12/15/2010" What a bunch of junk. Wooden writing, cardboard characters and purple prose all led to me abandoning this doorstop after less than 300 pages. Coincidences abound, emotions explode and very little of it makes any sense.

Guess I'm just not the mass market thriller type. "
— Jonathan, 6/1/2010" This giant novel (700 Pages) begins as a police, crime story and evolves
into a global political thriller. It has a complicated, twisting plot but the epilogue wraps it up very nicely at the end.
"
— Chuck, 4/1/2010" Wasn't able to concentrate on this book. "
— Kathleen, 3/22/2010" A very long book, over 700 pages, but an outstanding read. The first in a series of at least three. Very exciting with many turns in the story. I really like Allan Folsom as an author. Recommend all three books. "
— Jose, 2/19/2010" great fast book
read all his books from cover to cover w/o any long breaks
"
— Irene, 1/11/2010" an epic style with mystery and crime thrown in "
— Ginny, 11/20/2009" Excellent; too long tale of a cop who is promoted to a special unit that takes law into its own hands, and the fugitive they track who turns out to be a mass murderer in line to be the new Tsar of Russia
"
— Joe, 8/28/2009" I enjoyed this book. I thought it was well written and for the most part kept the action and story moving along. There were several parts where the story seemed to bog down but those sections quickly disappeared.

I am looking forward to reading his 2 other books. "
