Allan Folsom returns with a high octane thriller in The Machiavelli Covenant. In Europe for a crucial NATO summit in Warsaw, US President John Henry Harris is ordered by a secret cabal within his own administration to have the president of France and the chancellor of Germany assassinated. Refusal, he knows, will mean his death. Afraid to trust anyone, the president flees for his life. Pursued by the Secret Service, the CIA, and Spanish Intelligence who believe he is the victim of foul play, Harris joins forces with rogue detective Nicholas Marten and the beautiful but enigmatic French photo-journalist, Demi Picard. Together the three uncover one of the most secretive and brutally powerful groups the world has ever known, a brotherhood of blood that will stop at nothing. For five hundred years this despotic order of the supremely rich and powerful has kept a secret manuscript by Niccolai Machiavelli—The Covenant, a terrifying blueprint for gaining and keeping political power—hidden under heavy guard, and worshiped like some divine doctrine. Bonded by complicity in ritual murder and dedicated to a singular vision of global domination, over the centuries they have prospered far beyond any dreams of power and avarice. Outmanned, outnumbered, and outgunned, three people now stand alone against it: Nicholas Marten, Demi Picard, and John Henry Harris, president of the United States.

"Folsom is one of my favorite authors - along the lines of Dan Brown, David Baldacci, but more in depth - this is not a quick read but it is immensely satisfying. This is the third book of Folsom's I have read, and I am really impressed with this guy's mind! The stuff he comes up with is incredible."

“High–octane thriller writing with an almost visceral impact.
— Publishers Weekly on The ExileA heart-thumping, stay-up-late novel...Wild, unputdownable ...Brilliant.
— Los Angeles Times Book Review on The Day After Tomorrow" trying to stick with it but I keep wondering why I'm bothering...definitely doesn't have the pull of The Day After Tomorrow. Gave up at 100 pages. Might have just been my mood but i couldn't get into it. "
— Vinessa, 2/13/2014" Stupid, stupid book. I only bought it because it was on the bargain rack. Gnargh. I feel the need to wash my hands now. Several times. Ugh. Also, the whole POTUS/VPOTUS thing? LAME. "
— Kisholi, 2/12/2014" Good suspenseful thriller book. My kind of book, easy to read and follow but very entertaining and fun to read. It wasn't like some of those books that you can't put down but either way was worth the read. This book was good enough for me to want to read some of the authors other books. "
— Miles, 2/11/2014" Can't put it down. Easy read "
— Druw, 2/11/2014" I thought it was a little far fetched but enkoyed reading it. it was a long book but went quickly "
— Millie, 2/6/2014" Very interesting story--a real page turner. Allan Folsom is an outstanding writing. I have now read the three books in this series and all of them were five stars. Imagine the President of the United States on the run from all of his top White House "friends." A great read "
— Larry, 1/23/2014" This was the first book I read written by Allan Folson. He is an amazing author and this was really an exciting book. I would highly recommend it. It is a book that you will look forward to reading every day. Hard to put down. "
— Mary, 1/18/2014" Reviewed this for our newspaper last year and I was a bit turned off by its "ugh" factor. It was just kind of sadistic, really. "
— Cathy, 1/17/2014" a more intellectual "Tom Clancy-style political thriller" with a bit more philosophy and a bit more conspiracy theory...still a great read and a great story...should definitely be made into a movie... "
— Rich, 1/6/2014" This is a sequel to The Exile. I liked the premise of the story but felt it went off the deep end when a mysterious demonic cult became the villian in the story. It just didn't seem to be the best way to make the story work. "
— Naomi, 1/5/2014" This was a pretty fun read, once I got past the first third of the book. So. Many. Words. "
— Jennifer, 12/13/2013" I like a good suspense fiction. Add a bit of conspiracy... Yeah! "
— Stefanie, 12/2/2013" A good read. Interesting plot twists. Kind of like Indiana Jones meets modern day world politics. "
— Ron, 11/27/2013" Really good novel...but he takes a long time to tell the story. Really winds all over the landscape. "
— Bob, 10/8/2013" First book I read by Alan Folsom. I found two more at the library yesterday and am looking forward to them. "
— David, 10/8/2013" Pretty Awful. Too long. Too fanciful. Limited vocabulary. NOT recommended for anyone with an IQ over 60. "
— Peter, 8/29/2013" As improbable as the premise is, it does explain the entire Bush administration as a force for evil (with a Harvey Korman, Blazing Saddles kind of sneer). Not a bad read. Not going to spoil it with details. "
— Stuart, 4/4/2013" I had high hopes. I loved the idea of the book, but I didn't like the characters. None of them made me feel for them. i also didn't feel the suspense. It's not an awful book, but it didn't "move" me. "
— Valerie, 3/26/2013" Intriguing. Fast paced. Good thriller. "
— Wanda, 3/21/2013" So you want to know where the Ruski KGB got it's poisoning idea for Litvinenko? It's all right here in one of the best political thrillers ever! 10 of 10 stars! "
— Tim, 7/4/2012" WOW This book grabbed me from page 1 and didn't let go till the end. In fact I wanted to know more when the book was over. I throughly enjoyed it cover to cover. "
— Donna, 4/27/2012" I really loved this book - listened to it on audio book. Loved it until the epilogue, when it essentially ended in a cliff-hanger. It neeeded a resolution...I needed resolution. Up until the epilogue it was great - a real edge of your seat novel. Love international thrillers! "
— Maina, 3/3/2012" Bit lame really, didn't even make it to the "ok on a beach only" pile... "
— Sorcha, 10/29/2011" More suspenseful than "The Exile" and overall a better read. "
— Fred, 7/6/2011" More suspenseful than "The Exile" and overall a better read. "
— Fred, 6/21/2011" So many first timers , authors wise and it did not disappoint as the action is fast and so do the pages flying by when reading. The President of US is one of the hero. "
— Fan, 6/15/2011" A group of powerful people who are trying to take over the world. Takes you through lots and twists and turns, sometimes a bit out there, but this is fiction. Ancient religious rituals and witchcraft aren't part of my everyday life, so Folsom could be as creative as he wanted. I liked it. "
— Stacy, 12/15/2010" Excellent followup to The Exile. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. An exciting action thriller that's well writen and smartly put together. "
— Frank, 6/14/2010" An exciting expense tale about a plot by a secret organization to essentially take over the world. Though not very believable, it is a page turner with lots of action and political intrigue. "
— Pa, 4/16/2010" A thrilling read but it takes up to the second alf of the book before the author can generate some momentum. If you stick with the book for the first few hundred pages you get a reward later. "
— Christian, 3/15/2010" Very interesting story--a real page turner. Allan Folsom is an outstanding writing. I have now read the three books in this series and all of them were five stars. Imagine the President of the United States on the run from all of his top White House "friends." A great read "
