When FBI agent Grayson Kincaid first encounters Olivia MacKenzie, she makes quite an impression.
The beautiful, tough young attorney has stumbled into the middle of an FBI sting operation and reduced it to chaos. Months of surveillance and careful planning down the drain, Kincaid’s partner is furious and lets Olivia know that she’s ticked off the wrong guy. After all, he’s FBI.
But Olivia isn’t intimidated by his partner’s bullying because she’s something even scarier…she’s IRS.
And working for the IRS is no picnic. She’s on the trail of an elaborate Ponzi scheme, one that threatens to ruin the lives of naive and unsuspecting victims, and one she has personal reasons to be angry about. But after she asks the wrong people questions, her life is suddenly endangered. She’s accustomed to looking out for others who are weak, but being vulnerable herself makes her realize she needs help. In desperation, she calls Grayson Kincaid.
Together they join forces to fight corruption, but Olivia is also fighting the immediate and intense attraction she feels for Agent Kincaid, and that may be a battle she is bound to lose.
“As always, Ms. Garwood creates engaging characters who come alive page after page. The banter and interaction between Ellie and Max is beyond charming. Ellie is a spirited and strong heroine, and Max is charming in a stoic, gruff sort of way.” —New York Journal of Books on The Ideal Man
“Julie Garwood creates masterpieces every time she writes a book. Indeed, she is the Rembrandt of romance novels.” —The Kansas City Star

"Being it was the second book of Julie Garwoods that I read I had a good idea of what the book was going to be written like.. I really likes the story and the way she developed the characters. can't wait for next book like this to come out."

" I really enjoy books by Julie Garwood. The female characters are strong and the heroes are great! "
— Janie, 1/29/2014" The author succeeded in writing a fine romantic suspense story. It's got the romance, without the detail, the complicated crime stories involving the new love interest and our main character Olivia and friends and flows well all the way through. If you like Julie Garwood, you will surely like this one. "
— Sheila, 1/17/2014" I'll read anything Julie Garwood writes. If you're in the mood for a quick, light read in the romantic suspense category, her FBI line of books are great. I can't say this one was quite as good as some others, but it wasn't bad. "
— Diane, 1/16/2014" I had to put my book club novel on hiatus while I read this one, since it's on a seven day loan from the library. Julie Garwood is always entertaining, and I enjoy her style of writing. While her newer books are not as memorable as the when she first hit the book scene, they are still worth reading. The characters always make me smile and that's what I count on when I read her novels. "
— Grace, 1/10/2014" Love how Garwood writes the conversations between men and women. And this book was no exception - I would have given it 4 stars if it had been a historical romance. :) "
— Karen, 1/1/2014" Okay, i just couldn't finish this one. The book held so much promise but didn't deliver. I was expecting a nail biter, a really good suspense that would keep me on the edge of my seat, like Pamela Clare's I-Team series. But, I didn't get that. The story was too mellow. Yes there were FBI agents, and a bit of gun action, but it still didn't hold my attention. I couldn't get swept away by the romance between Olivia and Grayson either...it was so...meh...no chemistry, no sizzling sparks...I just don't think this book is as great as it's cracked out to be. "
— Anna, 12/31/2013" Her early mysteries were so good. Now they are mediocre. I still read them. "
— Jan, 12/30/2013" Fun read. Quick but interesting. Twists somewhat predictable but still a good read. "
— Beth, 11/24/2013" I like julie garwood, easy read and fun "
— Mandy, 11/18/2013" This book was pretty good. The criminals were justa bit stupid. I was expecting more. :) "
— Michele, 11/16/2013" EXCELLENT book. This book was probably my favorite book by Julie Garwood so far. "
— Rosemary, 11/16/2013" ABSOLUTELY LOVE this FBI series! I DEVOURED this book! "
— Amy, 11/15/2013" The suspense went flat about 3/4 of the way through the book, meaning I was finally able to put it down and knew the rest wouldn't be as climatic as what I just finished. "
— Sally, 11/10/2013" This was my first venture into Julie Garwood's world of intrigue...and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! "
— Diane, 8/29/2013" The main character is an IRS agent/lawyer. Unusually occupation for a romance novel. Good, light read. Julie Garwood is one of my favorite authors. "
— Anne, 6/23/2013" So far...really love this book... "
— Bonnie, 6/21/2013" A good and fast Julie Garwood read. Setting up 4 friends who went through a childhood ordeal together, this follows the first of the four, Olivia MacKenzie. This is a story of how sexy IRS and hunky FBI work together in and out of bed. "
— Judy, 5/5/2013" Pretty good. Might have liked it better, but listened to it on CD, and the voice artist had a very distracting style of speaking that just kept taking me out of the story. "
— Michelle, 3/31/2013" What a delightful story, hero and heroine, Grayson and Olivia. Looking forward to Collins, Jane and Sam's stories too. The Pips are indeed that! "
— Edi, 10/20/2012" I really do love this author her books are very good and I have enjoyed all of them. "
— Donna, 10/9/2012" Yawn. No suspense. No sexual tension. No chemistry. The only good thing about this book was the cover. "
— Wynn, 10/5/2012" This book occasionally mentioned some characters from her previous books, but it is largely unrelated. It seems to start off a new four book series featuring the female characters. I don't think I liked it quite as much as some of her other books, but it was a nice light read. "
