Publisher Description

Collected here are five complete books by one of the 20th century's greatest writers, the legendary Ernest Hemingway. This omnibus contains two of his best-known novels - "The Sun Also Rises" and "A Farewell to Arms" - as well as three collections of short stories and poems: "In Our Time," "Three Stories and Ten Poems" and "Men Without Women."

Hemingway first burst onto the literary scene as a short story writer in the mid-1920's but soon began writing novels as well, setting in motion one of the most celebrated careers in American literature, which culminated in his receipt of the 1954 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The scope of these stories in this volume is wide; ranging from the cafés of Paris and Madrid to fly-fishing in the mountains of Montana and back again to the battlefields of Italy during World War I. The novels in this collection are considered two of the finest works of fiction written in the 20th century and the short stories feature some of the earliest appearances of Nick Adams, Hemingway's favorite protagonist, who appeared in over two dozen of his short works.

Required reading for any Hemingway aficionado, these five complete books are presented here in their original and unabridged format. They have been narrated by renowned audiobook performer Joseph Wycoff.

About Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961), born in Oak Park, Illinois, started his career as a writer in a newspaper office in Kansas City at the age of seventeen. After the United States entered the First World War, he joined a volunteer ambulance unit in the Italian army. After his return to the United States, he became a reporter for Canadian and American newspapers. During the twenties, Hemingway became a member of the group of expatriate Americans in Paris, which he described in his first important work, The Sun Also Rises. He also wrote Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Old Man and the Sea, the story of an old fisherman’s journey, his long and lonely struggle with a fish and the sea, and his victory in defeat. He also wrote short stories that are collected in Men Without Women and The Fifth Column and the First Forty-Nine Stories. Hemingway died in Idaho in 1961.
