At Douglass High School, the Warriors of Distinction throw the best parties, go out with the hottest girls, and breeze through their classes without even trying. When he's chosen as a pledge, Jericho vows to do whatever it takes to become a full member. But as his initiation becomes more and more harrowing, he faces some uncomfortable choices. Exactly when do the fun and games of initiation cross into the life and death realm of hazing? Award-winning author Sharon M. Draper once again displays her unmatched ability to show the dangers faced by contemporary teens.

"I loved everything in this book, that took me inside the head of students facing demeaning and downright dangerous hazing activities, why they continue on, even when the adults around them sense problems and try to persuade them to tell, even when one of their member is being tortured (literally) by one of the seniors doing the hazing and another has a heart condition that could lead to his death. I really saw from the young persons POV, why Jericho and the others continued on a path that even a few more years of maturity might have changed."

" This was an interesting book. I could hardly put it down. It kept the students engaged and a lot of discussions was held throughout the book. "
— S. Johnson, 4/30/2024" Typical hazing in high school book. Not that award winning in my opinion, though I liked the main character a lot. "
— Kelly, 2/20/2014" This book is an excellent source for urban high school isstues. Two friends, Jericho and Josh are invited to join an elite club at school. The excitement wains though when the initiation games grow increasingly humiliating, forcing Jericho to make painful choices. "
— Bea, 2/10/2014" Jericho Prescott, a junior at Frederick Douglass High School. He is offered to join the most popular club at the school the Warriors of Distinction. The club it's been around for almost fifty years and is highly respected by the community. The club conducts a toy drive at the holiday season to help need children. "
— Jahaira, 2/6/2014" so i have to read this for school and so far its ok "
— Mykenna, 1/27/2014" This book is awsome. It has sadness, excitment, freaky, bravery and fun. This is about a couple of boys who want to enter a really cool club that has been going on scince 50 years ago. So these boys really want to get in so they do but they need to do these weird and hard things. What is intersting is that a girl over 50 years had never enter. So this is very intersting especially the end. "
— Marsela, 1/5/2014" this book is soo, good u guys should read it "
— Sherline, 12/5/2013" I think this book was very good. I never knew some teenagers do so much things to be apart of something. This is a book were most teenagers are able to relate to some of the situations they are in. "

— Holly, 2/28/2013" What's more important to you: being yourself or being a part of a popular or "important" group? This story weighs the risks of acting like someone you're not to make yourself feel important. The Battle of Jericho will have you on the edge of the seat and provide some unexpected twists. "
— Mr., 1/15/2013" this story is the definition of 'one of a kind'. it has a similar topic but it takes it and makes it and gives it a twist that seperates it from everyother story based on school life. it gives detailed info on what happened and where as well as ends it with a twist. its a great book :) "
— Creativegenius, 11/23/2012" OMG!!!!!!!! This book is so sad but its different and I love it. But its so sad when the boyfriend dies. "

— Bree, 9/15/2011" This is the perfect book to explain to kids and teens why hazing is wrong. If you are being hazed, you might not know that it might end in life or death. "
— Devin, 5/18/2011" Great book for all young teens to read. Wonderful message. "
— Wendy, 4/12/2011" Wish there was a three and a half star button. I liked it, I'll also be reading the next one. However, if you are someone who likes a fast moving action packed plot, this is not the book for you. Also, the aged slang used was also problematic as well. "
— Shannon, 2/11/2011" this book is full with sorrow, pain and so much drama.these two cousins who want to be worriors will do anything to get in it.if you love drama and books that makes you wanna cyr you have to read it.and it is full of L.O.V.E:) "
