About Gertrude Chandler Warner
Gertrude Warner (1890–1979) was born in Putnam, Connecticut. From the age of five, she dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote stories for her grandfather and each Christmas she gave him one as a gift. She went on to be a teacher for more than thirty years and was inspired to write easy and fun-to-read books for children in a time when there were few.
