About the Authors

Gertrude Warner (1890–1979) was born in Putnam, Connecticut. From the age of five, she dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote stories for her grandfather and each Christmas she gave him one as a gift. She went on to be a teacher for more than thirty years and was inspired to write easy and fun-to-read books for children in a time when there were few. Warner is best remembered as the author of the Boxcar Children mysteries.

Jim Weiss’ storytelling recordings have received the highest awards from the Parents’ Choice Foundation, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, and the American Library Association and have been widely praised in major publications across North America and internationally. He is the winner of eight AudioFile Earphones Awards.
