About Gertrude Chandler Warner
Gertrude Chandler
Warner (1890-1979) dreamed of becoming an author from the age of five. She
wrote stories for her grandfather and each Christmas gave him
one as a gift. She was a teacher for thirty-two years and
retired at the age of sixty to write full-time. Today she is best remembered
as the author of the Boxcar Children mysteries.
