Dropping everything—Art Association tea, Garden Club film, shopping list—Mrs. Pollifax, the intrepid Emily Pollifax from New Brunswick, New Jersey, answers the call of Carstairs of the CIA to act as courier. Agent Magda Ferenci-Sabo is missing in Istanbul, and Carstairs needs a courier to contact her.
But this courier must be above suspicion, unknown to the dark world of cross and double-cross in the Turkish capital where every friend is a potential enemy. He or she must have no record, no “profile.” Mrs. Pollifax fits the bill exactly. The only question left unanswered is: Will Mrs. Pollifax do it? Of course she will. What Emily Pollifax begins, Emily Pollifax finishes.

"My absolute favourite Mrs Pollifax story. The characters are so wonderfully real and likeable except for the evil bad guy who is totally despicable. All the way through we meet memorable believable people. Colin, Uncle Hugh, Sandor, Anietta, Sabahat, are all fantastic and likeable.I have been relistening to hear Sandor saying "What the hell"! at every turn. And to share the adventure to meet the gypsies. Anietta is such a strong character, a true queen of the gypsies."

" The second book in a great series where coincidences are the rule rather than the exception "

— Britt,, 3/2/2011" This was even better that the first book. It was shorter and a faster read. "
— Cathy, 2/22/2011" Fun little dated cold-war spy novel. Elderly widow in a flowered hat somehow ends up working for the CIA, befriends a lot of people, gets out of numerous scrapes. Cute if fluffy. "
— Michelle, 2/5/2011" I really liked the interaction with the gypsies. "
— Brittany, 1/18/2011" Nice mystery -- reminded me of Aunt Dimity and Amelia Peabody series. "
— Leanne, 1/8/2011" I listening to the audio version of this book. It is read by Barbara Rosenblatt. She has to be my all time favorite reader. I love how she can do so many types of voices. "
— Vicky, 11/11/2010" I didn't like this book near as much as the first and probably because I listened to it on tape and I didn't like the narrator at all. Her name is Barbara Rosenblat. I found her voice very grating "
— Bonnie, 11/3/2010" A nice little read in a "Murder She Wrote" type of way. Mrs. Pollifax is an unlikely spy. "
— lorena, 10/23/2010" Cute - she is very resourceful and always doing something unexpected. "
— Ayelet, 10/14/2010" This is a fun book to read. Pick this up for <br/>a light enjoyable book. "
— Lynn, 8/21/2010" Charming, funny, and suspensefu! lI liked this one even better than the first Mrs. Pollifax, and the narrator for the audio version is excellent--a master of voices. "
