Shara Drummond was a gifted dancer and a brilliant choreographer, but she could not pursue her dream of dancing on Earth. So she went to space, creating a new art form in three dimensions. And when the aliens arrived, there was only one way to prove that the human race deserved not just to survive, but to reach the stars. The only hope was Shara, with her stardance.
The Hugo and Nebula Award–winning Stardance series pioneered the concept of zero gravity dance, which even sparked the interest of NASA and shortlisted co-author Jeanne Robinson for a seat on a space shuttle to become the first actual freefall dancer in space. Though theChallengerexplosion cancelled that dream, now Jeanne is being given a second chance to choreograph dance in space … on film.

"decent book from Spider Robinson with more of a focus on 'hard science' Though there are still some nice bits of humor and creativity. His best work after the Callahan books. "
— Travis (4 out of 5 stars)
“Stardance is a major work not only as entertainment but as a literary masterpiece.”
— Chicago Sun-Times“Larger-than-life characters, a love of dance and music, and a grand vision, with a sense of ecstasy that infuses much of the novel.”
— Locus“The Robinsons’ message—that love and communication are what being human is really about—is delivered with plenty of action, high-tech and character development.”
— Publishers Weekly“This captivating science fiction novel is brought to life in a vivid and memorable reading by one of its authors. Who better to understand this complex work, both in its utter humanity and the complicated setting in which it exists? Spider Robinson reads with vigor and honesty, relating his tale of the unbelievable and fantastic in the most earnest of performances…A truly vivid tale!”
— AudioFile" just when you thought sci-fi didn't have a heart... "
— Shanta, 11/2/2013" Reread numerous times. Love it so much, that I bought it, again, for my kindle! "
— ladymurmur, 9/5/2013" This trilogy (particularly the second book) brought to life my ideal world. Plus Spider Robinson is really fun to read. "
— Lindsey, 5/9/2013" Got a little weird and spiritual at the end, but the first half was incredible. "
— Creative, 10/30/2010" pretty cool. movement in zero gravity. dance as language. "
— Elissajeanne, 1/14/2010" Entertaining, but overreaching in philosophy. Robinson lards on the sex (and sexy women), as usual, though I admit I don't entirely mind. Also, Spider Robinson has only a half grip on what life would be like in zero-G, and his mistakes distract me. "
— Leon, 9/13/2009" The writing is a bit rough but it's a interesting idea book. The sections describing dance and perception are interesting. "
— Chanpheng, 7/7/2009" I really enjoyed this book, but I have a near-total ignorance on the subject of dance. I would like to know what a dancer thinks of it. "
— Porter, 5/28/2009" I want to live in this world. "
— Garrick, 4/27/2009" Not as raucously hilarious as some of Robinson's other books, but still a beautiful story of love, art and exploration. "
— Kerri, 12/25/2008" This is another one of those books I recommend to people who think they don't like sci-fi. "
— Judy, 11/30/2008" This is a lovely book, with great print quality. The book itself is pretty interesting. I liked it but wasn't overwhelmed with it. It didn't make me want to rush out and pick up more Spider Robinson books. "
— Charles, 9/21/2008" The signal work of this author and his wife. "
— Randy, 8/2/2008" The series starts out great and goes poor pretty fast. I, however, love the first book (and it gets the stars). "
— Alan, 6/4/2008" Co-written with his beautiful better-half Jeanne. An excellent series. "
