Publisher Description

A con artist and seductress, Meredith Spooner lived fast—and died young. But her final scam—embezzling more than a million dollars from a college endowment fund—is coming back to haunt Leonora Hutton. The tainted money is stashed away in an offshore account for Leonora. And while she wants nothing to do with the cash, she discovers two other items in the safe-deposit box: a book about Mirror House—the place where Meredith engineered her final deception and a set of newspaper stories about an unsolved murder that occurred there thirty years ago.

Now Leonora has an offer for Thomas Walker, another victim of Meredith's scams and seductions. She'll hand over the money—if he helps her figure out what's going on. Meredith had described Thomas as "a man you can trust." But in a funhouse-mirror world of illusion and distortion, Leonora may be out of her league . . .

"I am a big Jayne Ann Krentz fan ... and this novel was just the escape I needed in the middle of February's cold waiting for spring. Leonora, a college librarian, soon has her hands full - and her quiet life disrupted - with murder, mystery, a con artist, and a new romance. Krentz was one a college librarian ... and I'm sure her experiences gave her an inside track to help this book be a good one."

" This book definitely had satisfying romance but the suspense was awkwardly plotted. It was clear that the first resolution wasn't the real one, even without Leonora's continued bad dreams, but after the mystery was "solved" the first time, I lost interest in the story. The mirror imagery throughout was pretty well done but the scene where our hero tells off Leonora's ex went on for FAR too long and gave me that embarrassed, want-to-stop-reading feeling. "

" Overall it was fine, but I probably would have enjoyed it more as a regular book than as an audiobook. The cheesy voices killed it for me. Some good dialogue, a little creepiness. "
