In his previous best-seller, Natural Causes, Dr. Michael Palmer drew on decades of emergency-room experience to create a terrifyingly realistic world where the line between medicine and murder is scalpel-thin. In Silent Treatment, he crosses this line with a heart-pounding thriller guaranteed to satisfy fans of medical suspense. When his wife mysteriously dies the night before she is scheduled for surgery, Dr. Harry Corbett realizes a killer is moving through the wards of Good Samaritan Hospital-a killer so sophisticated and silent that he can only be a doctor.

"Palmer is an amazing author but naughty... I don't watch rated R movies and this ended up being a rated R book. I had to skip a couple promiscuous chapters and edit out some swearing. I wouldn't recommend it to those who don't like rated R media. But unfortunately, the book was really fantastic and very suspenseful!!!!"

“Palmer’s medical-insurance mystery story will increase the anxiety level of any listener who’s on the way to the doctor...There’s plenty of action, and the medical details are authentic. George Guidall serves up a malicious killer, a lovable doctor-hero, a beautiful bald-headed lady, thugs, call girls, detectives, and jealous lovers. His style is subtle; the slight pause here, the hard edge there. The listener almost forgets the voice, which is clear but not aggressive. Guidall is especially able to convey character through dialogue.”
— AudioFile“Palmer has written another winner in his usual gripping, surprise-filled manner...Silent Treatment will make many readers think, definitely keep them interested, and maybe even make them cheer when Palmer’s next thriller appears.”
— Booklist“Palmer creates a suspenseful, entirely credible tale of health insurance fraud and behind-the-scenes hospital politics. Palmer, who manages to find new and more frightening themes for his medical thrillers, gets better with each book.”
— Library Journal“Extremely vivid characters...never boring.”
— Kirkus Reviews" THIS BOOK MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT THESE INSURANCE COMPANIES COULD POSSIBLY BE DOING IN THESE TIMES TO SAVE MONEY BY KILLING OFF THE MOST EXPENSIVELY TREATED PATIENTS. "
— JANET, 2/18/2014" Michael Palmer is very good at buiilding a suspenseful medical mystery. "
— Joan, 2/15/2014" A bland medical thriller/whodunnit. Poor character development and very predictable. "
— Tim, 2/14/2014" A GP on staff at a Manhattan Hospital is embroiled in multiple murders starting with his wife's. In trying to clear his name and reputation he becomes even more embroiled. It is complex and holds your interest. Very few authors can do a medical thriller as well as Palmer. "
— Joyce, 2/8/2014" Never dragging and even a lay person can understand the medical terms. "
— Renz, 2/6/2014" Not his greatest, but entertaining enough. "
— Jennifer, 1/25/2014" It was hard to get started -- the beginning was scattered--too many sites, too many people, too many stories, and very depressing. But once Palmer focuses on his main character, it slowly starts to weave into a page-turning thriller. "
— Rosanne, 1/17/2014" If you want an "on the edge of your seat" climax, this is it! "
— Carol, 1/17/2014" It's been awhile since I last read one of his books, was a nice change, easy read and entertaining. A tiny predictable as it neared the end. Maybe a half less star for that. "
— Lisa, 1/12/2014" Not the best or most original book by Michael Palmer I've read, but an interesting read all the same. "
— Anne, 12/25/2013" I am enjoying reading Michael Palmer's books. I love medical mystery/thrillers. Once I got about 3/4 of the way through I could not put it down for needing to find out "whodunit!" "
— Theresa, 12/16/2013" Oh my, another page turner from this author. Really like the two books I've now read. Suspense plus, and all in all a darn good read. "
— Karleene, 12/8/2013" I thoroughly enjoyed Palmer's previous book and looked forward to this one. This was such an intense, depressing book that it was hard for me to get into the nightmare Harry was living--yet it was impossible to put down. Insurance companies with too much power and no conscience make a scary villain. "
— ChrisGA, 12/3/2013" Full of suspense, lots of twists and turns. "
— Belita, 7/14/2013" I did not care for it all that much. Not my favorite "

— Mary, 4/26/2013" First book that I have read by this author and I will be certainly reading more. "

— Dawn, 2/7/2013" Lots of twists and turns, an exciting read. And Palmer can write well. If you like Robin Cook and medical thrillers, read Palmer's stuff. "

— Amanda, 12/20/2012" Silent Treatment is a fast-paced medical thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Scary bad guys, awesome good guys, and a nice payoff. "
— Carla, 10/13/2012" I really like this book, could not put it down. "
— Nancy, 9/27/2012" An adequate suspend-your-disbelief medical thriller. Not unlike watching TV or a movie. "
— Rae, 9/7/2012" Very exciting book, you cant help but wonder if the mystery will ever get solved "
— Heather, 8/22/2012" I read a little of it. Not much though. It seemed okay. "
— Tiffany, 8/13/2012" Fast read. Bad guy, good guy, gets the girl but a riviting plot. "
— Susan, 7/25/2012" I'd really like to give this 3 1/2 stars. I liked the story line. I liked the way the author brought 3 different story lines together and I was surprised by some of the twists and turns. But at the end of the story it just seemed to keep going on and on and on. "
— Luan, 5/18/2012" This was a good book by Palmer. Not one of my favorites of his, though. Good summer read. "
— Jill, 5/16/2012" Reads fast. As if health insurance reality wasn't bad enough here we have HMO's and insurance agencies conspiring to kill patients for future savings. Requires lots of suspension. "
— Frank, 5/7/2012" What a lot of fun! After a relatively sluggish start it turned into quite a page turner. "
