Bayern has triumphed in its war with Tira. But though the war is over, simmering anger remains among the Tirans, and new hostilities could erupt at any moment. In a desperate attempt to maintain the peace, King Geric sends an ambassador to the Tiran capitol. Of course, an ambassador needs a military guard. Razo—short, impish, and not at all skilled at combat—longs to be among those selected to go but thinks he has no chance. So he is astounded when Captain Talone taps him to join the group. He is even more astounded when he discovers the secret reason for Talone's decision. All too soon Razo is up to his eyeballs in a simmering mix of danger and intrigue—not to mention an unexpected romance. But as the gruesome deaths mount, everyone is a suspect, even the girl who has stolen Razo's heart.

"I read this one, instead of listening to it like I did the previous one. As I suspected I would, I enjoyed reading it more than listening to it--I think it's the performers (which is a bummer because I'd rather listen to it). There was also more humor in this book, which I also appreciated."

" I like this one more than Enna burning. It was fun.. "
— Amy, 2/17/2014" Definitely my favourite of the three! Razo is the best main character with such a delightful voice. So much love :D Makes me wonder though, are we going to have an 'earth' speaker next? ;) "
— Sally, 2/12/2014" I didn't get into this one as quickly as the first two in the series. But, about halfway through it got much more interesting. One of the reasons why I like Hale's writing style so much is that her endings always leave me completely satisfied. "
— Laurie, 2/4/2014" This book was adorable. I love Shannon Hale's word choice and description. Her characters are amazing. "
— Shayla, 2/1/2014" Loved it as I do all of Shannon Hale's books. Once again couldn't decide whether 3 or 4 but because they are so short and easy reads I chose the three. Great books to read when you just want to get caught up in a long lazy day. "
— DeAnn, 1/29/2014" I really enjoy Shannon Hale's descriptive writing without the use of cliche's. "
— Lori, 1/20/2014" Another great Shannon Hale book set in Bayern. I find that I don't like the young men as narrators as much as the young women, but I'd happily read any of her books! "
— Laura, 1/19/2014" A very fun addition to the series. It is amazing to watch how the characters have grown and changed since the first book. They have changed and learned, lived and loved so much. This book focuses on Razo, as he deals with strange fiery girls, and the drama of Finn and Enna. "
— Elizabeth, 12/21/2013" Such a great story! Love Razo...he's hilarious! "
— Carrie, 12/16/2013" I do love the writing of Shannon Hale. I also love Razo and love to see the evolution of these characters and their powers. "
— Ktdavidson, 12/16/2013" Another great book. These are just so intriquing. "
— Kirsten, 12/6/2013" Stronger than "Enna Burning" but really not that great. "
— Wendy, 9/6/2013" My least favorite of the Bayern series, but still a very well told story. "
— Minerfam, 9/3/2013" I like Razo the most out of all the characters. So I liked this book the most of all the series. "
— Katherine, 7/6/2013" These books bring back so many wonderful memories! "
— Sana, 7/4/2013" Okay, the first two were great. Very good. But, this is the WINNER! ULTIMATE CHAMPION! Because..... RAZO GETS TO BE THE MAIN CHARACTER! He is so funny and awesome, who wouldn't love the book where he gets to be the star? Its awesome! "
— Isabel, 6/21/2013" While I can understand Ms. Hale's draw to the character, this just wasn't my favorite book. Perhaps, it was me. I need someone else to read it and tell me what they think. "
— Joey, 5/3/2013" I'd forgotten how much I liked Shannon Hale! I must pick up Enna Burning next time I need a diversion. "
— Rachel, 4/24/2013" I actually liked this one better than Enna Burning. I thought I wasn't going to like it as much at first, but it turned out to be one of my top favorites of hers. (of course they're all my favorites though) "
— Chelsea, 3/28/2013" This book was really entertaining. Part mystery, part romance, but lots of the characters from the past two books that I loved. Lots of action, too, and it had me guessing until the end. I even stayed up past midnight to finish it and I rarely do that! "
— Carissa, 3/15/2013" Marvelous. Shannon Hale is great. I really enjoyed reading from a guy's perspective this go-around. It was a good mystery too! "
— Amy, 3/12/2013" I think our family needs to own these books. Our library purchased them when I requested them. They are great for the whole family. My husband is reading them almost as quickly as my daughter and I. They are wholesome and uplifting. I love watching the characters grow. "
— Cheryl, 3/7/2013" So far my least favorite of the Bayern books. A little slow and predictable, but there are some parts I enjoyed. "
— Brooke, 2/17/2013" this is the 3rd in the Goose Girl series, Razo's story. I liked it, I liked it better than "Enna Burning" number 2 in the series. And that's all I can think to say :) "
