Publisher Description

Beloved heroes Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers are up against a powerful vigilante group with an eye on vengeance in this exciting story from #1 New York Times-bestselling author John Sandford.

“We’re going to murder people who need to be murdered.” So begins a press release from a mysterious group known only as “The Five,” shortly after a vicious predator is murdered in San Francisco.

The Five is believed to be made up of vigilante killers who are very bored—and very rich. They target the worst of society—rapists, murderers, and thieves—and then use their unlimited resources to offset the damage done by those who they’ve killed, donating untraceable bitcoin to charities and victims via the dark net. The Five soon become the most popular figures on social media, a modern-day Batman, though their motives may not be entirely pure.

After a woman is murdered in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport are sent in to investigate. And they soon have their hands full, as the killings are smart and carefully choreographed. And with no apparent direct connection to the victims, the Five are virtually untraceable.

But if anyone can destroy this group, it will be the dynamic team of Davenport and Flowers.

" This is an outstanding audiobook that immediately roped me in and was a welcome companion on a recent long drive. The story is top-notch but the narration is what really takes it over the top. The narrator Richard Ferrone was truly captivating. His skillful narration gave life to every chapter and twist. From the tension-filled moments between characters to the suspenseful cliffhangers, Ferrone expertly captures each emotion and nuance of this thrilling novel. In addition, his vocal range is impressive — he readily switches from one character to another without any difficulty or confusion for the listener. John Sandford's writing style combines vivid descriptions with clever dialogue that effortlessly conveys atmosphere and emotion. Every page contains some kind of tension or conflict that will keep readers on their toes until the very end. He also manages to integrate elements of Norse mythology into his narrative in ways that make sense for our modern world without straying too far from reality. All in all, Righteous Prey is an excellent listening experience thanks to its flawless execution both in terms of performance and writing. The masterful narration enhances every word written by Sandford while still allowing listeners' imaginations free rein over how they envision characters and settings alike. "
