Sonnet Romano’s life is almost perfect. She has the ideal career, the ideal boyfriend, and has just been offered a prestigious fellowship. There’s nothing more a woman wants—except maybe a baby…brother?
When Sonnet finds out her mother is unexpectedly expecting, and that the pregnancy is high risk, she puts everything on hold—the job, the fellowship, the boyfriend—and heads home to Avalon. Once her mom is out of danger, Sonnet intends to pick up her life where she left off.
But when her mother receives a devastating diagnosis, Sonnet must decide what really matters in life, even if that means staying in Avalon and taking a job that forces her to work alongside her biggest, and maybe her sweetest, mistake—award-winning filmmaker Zach Alger. So Sonnet embarks on a summer of laughter and tears, of old dreams and new possibilities, and of finding the home of her heart.
At once heartbreaking and uplifting, Return to Willow Lake plumbs the deepest corners of the human heart, exploring the bonds of family, the perils and rewards of love, and the true meaning of home. Profoundly emotional and resonant, this is Susan Wiggs at her finest.

"The soft and gentle voice of this author comes through clearly in Return to Willow Lake. Her insistence that I deal with two life-changing experiences--breast cancer and pregnancy in a 40ish woman--had me swinging between tears and laughter, chilling fear and the joy of a new day breaking. The addition of Sonnet's two relationships--with the smarmy Orlando (why couldn't she SEE how calculating he was? Because she didn't want to)and her friend from kindergarten days, Zach. Their increasing awareness of each other proves that friendship truly is essential in any lasting love. Like other titles in the Lakeshore Chronicles, I know I'll be re-reading this book."

" I so enjoyed Return to Willow Lake - This was really a great story about finding your way and what is really important in life. It was also wonderful to visit with the Bellamy family again and catch up on their stories. Loved this book! "
— Margaret, 2/20/2014" Feels like a great ending to this great series. "
— Holly, 2/17/2014" I love this series and this book was no exception. Susan captures the emotions of everyday people and brings those emotions to life through her characters. It is never a problem to find a character that you can relate to in her novels. Easy and fun! "
— Judie, 2/16/2014" The book was good, but not great. The only reason I say this is because the main characters, Sonnet and Zach, are rarely together until the end of the book, so you don't really get a feel for their relationship. The whole book is mostly focused on Sonnet and her mother. I guess that there was just too much going on in the story to really focus on one thing. Hopefully the next book in the series will focus much more on the main couple like the rest of the books in the series do. "
— Jolene, 2/12/2014" I enjoy this series, the romance and the relationships. "
— Jan, 2/1/2014" I loved this book!!!! I have read all of the Lakshore Chronicles hoping they don't end and she tells Max's story next! "
— Kimmie, 1/16/2014" Hopefully the conclusion to this series. Susan seems to be running out of steam. Poor Nina Romano Bellamy, sometimes an author pours it on, and you're asking yourself, "Really, oh come on, really?" "
— Marilyn, 1/8/2014" Started this yesterday, liking it so far. Liked this all the way to the end. It was good to see Sonnet realize how conditional her father's love was. I was a bit surprised by the twist with "perfect" Orlando! "
— Maryann, 1/2/2014" Character driven kind of formulated big drama end "
— Linda, 12/25/2013" Just a fun romance! "
— Becky, 12/9/2013" Light read, very predictable. "
— Helen, 11/20/2013" Love this little town of Avalon!! Also the down home characters. Can't wait for Wiggs to write the next one. :) "
— Rebecca, 11/16/2013" This hit a personal chord for me, being the daughter of a cancer victim following 2 attempts to eradicate it. I could really identify w/ Sonnet's struggle to be there for her mother and find her own path. I love Susan Wiggs' books but this one in particular goes down as one of my all time favorites. "
— Michal, 11/6/2013" Susan Wiggs writes engaging characters and it's always fun to revisit them, to find out how they've changed and to have another couple wind up happily ever after. This one is about Sonnet and Zach, about priorities and preconceived notions, about crises and resolutions. Very enjoyable piece. "
— Sand, 9/5/2013" Fast paced book--I related to the characters on a personal level as they struggled to find happiness and purpose. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy read that captures the heart. "
— Lisa, 8/19/2013" Not a fave. Usually Wiggs makes me laugh and cry; I didn't. "
— Andreasoldier, 7/13/2013" very good book, refreshingly honest emotion "
— Roslyn, 7/3/2013" This is the 9th book I have read in the Lakeshore Chronicles series. They never disappoint - all wonderful stories, "
— Jane, 4/8/2013" Very typical susan wiggs story. Predictable and cute. Fun, fast, light read. "
— Kara, 3/15/2013" I enjoyed returning to this series, it is like going home. Great storyline. "
