As Christians, we believe that all sins are considered equal in God's eyes. Yet while evangelicals continue to decry the Big Ones--such as abortion, adultery, and violence--we often overlook more deceptive sins. It seems we have created a sliding scale where gossip, jealousy, and selfishness comfortably exist within the church. In short, some sins have simply become acceptable. Acclaimed author Jerry Bridges believes that just as culture has lost the concept of sin, the church faces the same danger. Throughout, Jerry encourages victory over personal sin through the gospel's transforming power. This release is perfect for readers who long to thoughtfully examine their lives and discover a deeper walk with God.

"This book brought to my attention the sins I had tolerated in my life to name a few, jealousy, anger, pride, frustration, unthankfulness and judgementalism. After reading this book I was able to forgive myelf and others. Giving everything to God and trusting Him in transforming me into His likeness, it has been a process. He is a loving God He loves the sinner and I found laying my sins at his feet lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders, trusting God to take care of any obstical that comes my way. It is a daily battle to fight off sin, keeping our eyes on God helps us fight the battle."

" This book hits the mark for its intended target - Serious Christians who want to grow in their Christian life. It is simple and practical, and also quite challenging. There is nothing revolutionary in its thoughts (or style), just a consistent reminder of the fact that the gospel is meant to affect our whole life, rather than just giving us a veneer or respectability. I would recommend this book to all Christians. "
— doug, 2/20/2014" Very good and practical book... easy read and very applicable... "
— James, 2/12/2014" D-Groups book. It's pretty good. Bridges tends to use himself as an example, but other than that a needed discussion for all of us. "
— Ashley, 2/10/2014" Excellent book. Would recommend for family book study - Lent. Confronting the sins we tolerate. Have we become so preoccupied with the major sins of our society that we have lost sight of our need to deal with our own more subtle sins -- jealousy, anger, unthankfulness, pride, judgmentalism, and more! "
— Jill, 1/26/2014" Tons of conviction to go around here. While we easily look with disdain at the "big" sins in our culture, we easily accept lots of others (unforgiveness, idolatry, pride, anger, worldliness, etc.). Jerry Bridges walks us through this dark area. At times it was a bit legalistic though the subject did lend itself to that. This is one you'll pick up and put down, pick up, put down. Think 24 sermons. "
— Steve, 1/19/2014" Great book. Certainly causes a deeper look at the sins we excuse. Was very effective as a discussion group book. "
— Shanna, 1/17/2014" A confronting read and a must for Christians serious about running the race. "
— Nikki, 1/7/2014" Truly, this book is one of the best I've ever read because it encourages me to walk more closely with Jesus in a REAL way. Bridges brings me back to the Bible at every turn. A wonderful, Bible saturated, life changing book. I recommend this to everything Christian. It should be mandatory reading. "
— Julie, 12/18/2013" Its an amazing redefining yourself book. It looks at sins and areas that ALL of us struggle in. Reading this will probably convict you many times, but also make you want to be more kind and more like Christ. Especially in attitude and wisdom and caring about others over yourself. "

— Ruth, 8/29/2013" Enjoyed this book in which Jerry Bridges challenges and teaches us how to be more refined in our daily lives as Christians as he focuses on a number of what we consider "respectable" sins that we often make excuses for having and let become a part of our lives. "

— Deborah, 6/13/2013" Good book that reveals every day 'acceptable sins' in our lives, and reminds us, through Scripture, many things we do/say every day are actually sin. Helpful to remind us just how short we fall every day from living a life free from sin. "
— Nathanael, 3/4/2013" Great book that really hits hard on the sins that we so easily forget about, because they are so much a part of our daily lives.. "

— Becca, 5/31/2012" A good small group study. Very convicting. It takes a look at those "little" sins that aren't so bad and I can easily overlook in myself. I didn't agree with all the author said but it did make for some very good discussions. And gave me some things to work on. "
