"These guys are intense. And they bring that same fire to their narration in the audiobook. Listen to these insanely competent SEAL officers tell you exactly how to make a team successful through their firsthand experiences in business and combat." - The Hustle An updated edition of the blockbuster bestselling leadership audiobook that took America and the world by storm, two U.S. Navy SEAL officers who led the most highly decorated special operations unit of the Iraq War demonstrate how to apply powerful leadership principles from the battlefield to business and life. Combat, the most intense and dynamic environment imaginable, teaches the toughest leadership lessons, with absolutely everything at stake. Jocko Willink and Leif Babin learned this reality first-hand on the most violent and dangerous battlefield in Iraq. As leaders of SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser, their mission was one many thought impossible: help U.S. forces secure Ramadi, a violent, insurgent-held city deemed “all but lost.” In gripping, firsthand accounts of heroism, tragic loss, and hard-won victories, they learned that leadership—at every level—is the most important factor in whether a team succeeds or fails. Willink and Babin returned home from deployment and instituted SEAL leadership training to pass on their harsh lessons learned in combat to help forge the next generation of SEAL leaders. After leaving the SEAL Teams, they launched a company, Echelon Front, to teach those same leadership principles to leaders in businesses, companies, and organizations across the civilian sector. Since that time, they have trained countless leaders and worked with hundreds of companies in virtually every industry across the U.S. and internationally, teaching them how to develop their own high-performance teams and most effectively lead those teams to dominate their battlefields. Since it’s release in October 2015, Extreme Ownership has revolutionized leadership development and set a new standard for literature on the subject. Required listening for many of the most successful organizations, it has become an integral part of the official leadership training programs for scores of business teams, military units, and first responders. Detailing the mindset and principles that enable SEAL units to accomplish the most difficult combat missions, Extreme Ownership demonstrates how to apply them to any team or organization, in any leadership environment. A compelling narrative with powerful instruction and direct application, Extreme Ownership challenges leaders everywhere to fulfill their ultimate purpose: lead and win.

"This book I believe tried to bridge the lessons learned in combat to the workplace, but I think what is most important that I would have liked to understand more is the motivational aspect. In the day to day world, we know that it can be a struggle to motivate your workforce from time to time. The Seals are on another level, based on patriotism and brotherhood, where the motivation is constant. It would have been great to gleam one or two pointers into how the Seals motivate their team and how I could possibly apply those tools to say an accounting team.Nevertheless, I still found the book an entertaining and useful read."

“Leif and Jocko are the real deal. I’m honored to have served with them. They led SEALs in the fight through the hell that was the Battle of Ramadi. This book shows how they did it.”
— Marcus Luttrell, US Navy SEAL and #1 New York Times bestselling author“Finally, a leadership book that actually demonstrates how to truly lead. Riveting, engaging, and free from the usual cliché platitudes, this book is strikingly impactful and will dramatically improve leaders of all types.”
— Amy Brandt Schumacher, entrepreneur, executive, and philanthropist" As I was reading this awesome book about how methods of military missions apply to the business world, I developed an awareness I've never had as to how responsible I am for my failures or scores in just about every aspect of life. I realized just how much more I should be doing, and how simple it can be to balance all of life's categories with the right focus and devotion to being disciplined, not restrain myself, but to actually be truly free. "
— Charlie, 3/18/2024" Great book with leadership rules anyone can apply. "
— Stephen, 10/28/2019" This is the best book I have ever listened to! Unbelievable feats and lessons from our heroic military narrated from our top commanders. They share their dedication to their missions and relate it to business applications. You will develop a profound respect and gratification for the sacrifices our heroes who have dedicated their life in order we have the freedom that we take for granted everyday! "
— Micci, 5/30/2019" While the beginning of the book takes its time to remind you that this is not a war memoir it sure feels like one. The authors go into great length to make sure that these war stories are told with a gritty voice, and some passages even have sound effects but when it is time for the real world application I wish the same effort was involved. Rather than figuring out exactly how you can become a great leader from former Navy Seals members you are given very general advice such as: Take ownership of your failures, and work together. Had I never had any advice or real world experience with leadership this may have been very helpful, but for me I needed much more and didn't walk away with much from this book. "
— Calvin, 3/19/2019" Great learnings from combat also applied in the business world. A modern version Sun Tzi wiles of war applied to war/business. Narrators succeeded in giving life to the story.True there is a bit of repetition but definitely a book worth reading. The insights are MANY. "
— Pierre, 1/19/2019" Authors alternate the narration, giving multiple perspectives of battle, which provides real life examples of their principles in action. Easy and clear listen. "
— Poni , 12/31/2018" I never thought about the training in my military service transferring over to the business world. "
— Richard, 12/18/2018" This was a great book. Many many important lessons to be listened to again and again. "
— Cassandra Kennard, 12/10/2018" JOCKO and Leif do an awesome job narrating and making this book fun and constructive. I recommend it to anyone who wants to step there game up! Thanks guys "
— ken, 10/15/2018" This was my first ever Audio Book.... and all I can say is wow! This was a GREAT leadership book and it help me understand things from a different angle. I wish i would have had a note pad to write down key points because there are so many that you want to remember. I can't say I found myself not paying attention, it always had me paying attention to what was being said. I have been recommending it to friends as I was listening and I will continue too!! "
— Jesse, 4/11/2018" Great Book! Thanks for taking the time and effort to share. 3rd 19th inf "
— safetydave, 3/11/2018" This book was decent. Many great parallels illustrated between business and paramilitary. Some parts were repetitive, however, I believe overall worth, worth the time. The book also provided what I'd call gold nuggets for life even as it applies to family, friends and aquintences. "
— M, 1/24/2018" Extreme Ownership was recommended by a few friends but I was Leary about buying the audio book. It was my first audio book purchase and I must say I was pretty happy first of all with the whole process of buying the audio book. The web site was easy to navigate, easy to pay for, download and ultimately list to on my I Phone. I work in a para military organization so some of the principles were valid. One part that doesn't fly for most para military organizations is the ability to pick your own team. I was glad the writers of the book actually read the book. I would recommend to a friend. "
— VP, 1/19/2018" Great story telling and parallels to business application "
— Terry, 10/20/2017" It was boring and repetitive all along, not the best . Gentlemen presenting the book should show some interest. Cheers. "
— Sam, 10/5/2017" Extreme Ownership is not merely another book on leadership but provides a new paradigm on how to approach and execute your role as a leader. The concepts discussed in the book are laid out thoughtfully and carefully to help any leader, at any level, apply these principles to help an organization be successful. As a former Marine, I am captivated by the stories, insights, and military-to-civilian applications presented within the book. Extreme Ownership is a must-read for anyone desiring to stand out in their leadership role. "
— Paul, 9/14/2017" the examples are clear and show a good correlation to ebery day situations. I will keep these principals in my arsenal. "
