In Extreme Ownership, Jocko Willink and Leif Babin share hard-hitting, Navy SEAL combat stories that translate into lessons for business and life. With riveting first-hand accounts of making high-pressure decisions as Navy SEAL battlefield leaders, this book is equally gripping for leaders who seek to dominate other arenas. Jocko and Leif served together in SEAL Task Unit Bruiser, the most highly decorated Special Operations unit from the war in Iraq. Their efforts contributed to the historic triumph for US forces in Ramadi. Through those difficult months of sustained combat, Jocko, Leif, and their SEAL brothers learned that leadership—at every level—is the most important thing on the battlefield. They started Echelon Front to teach these same leadership principles to companies across industries throughout the business world that want to build their own high-performance, winning teams.

This book explains the SEAL leadership concepts crucial to accomplishing the most difficult missions in combat and how to apply them to any group, team, or organization. It provides the reader with Jocko and Leif’s formula for success: the mindset and guiding principles that enable SEAL combat units to achieve extraordinary results. It demonstrates how to apply these directly to business and life to likewise achieve victory.

" Extreme Ownership is not merely another book on leadership but provides a new paradigm on how to approach and execute your role as a leader. The concepts discussed in the book are laid out thoughtfully and carefully to help any leader, at any level, apply these principles to help an organization be successful. As a former Marine, I am captivated by the stories, insights, and military-to-civilian applications presented within the book. Extreme Ownership is a must-read for anyone desiring to stand out in their leadership role. "

" This book I believe tried to bridge the lessons learned in combat to the workplace, but I think what is most important that I would have liked to understand more is the motivational aspect. In the day to day world, we know that it can be a struggle to motivate your workforce from time to time. The Seals are on another level, based on patriotism and brotherhood, where the motivation is constant. It would have been great to gleam one or two pointers into how the Seals motivate their team and how I could possibly apply those tools to say an accounting team. Nevertheless, I still found the book an entertaining and useful read. "
