"i believe this is one of ms. deveraux's best novels. it deals with reincarnation. hayden lane is a romance writer and in the process of finishing one of her novels creates a compelling and complex leading man... this leads her to a psychic and she is told that this man is real but if she saw him today, she would instantly hate him because of problems from previous relationships. it is like 3 romances in one because she has to go back to two previous times in an effort to solve her problem. it actually made me cry when i was reading it. if you want a good romance- two people falling in love but being kept apart by other people, different time periods and customs, everything turning out wonderfully at the end... this is for you. :)"

“A brilliant combination of a time-travel/reincarnation love story…hypnotic and gripping…Deveraux brings this unusual romance to life, demonstrating that she is a superb craftsman, a mesmerizing storyteller whose love for the genre, history, and a great story shine with the brilliance of a diamond and with as many facets.”
— RT Book Reviews (Top Pick!)“A smart and savvy swoon of a yarn.”
— Publishers Weekly“A tale of intrigue and deception that readers will find fulfilling. This quirky, fast-moving novel should appeal to all romance readers, particularly those interested in the time-travel subgenre.”
— Booklist" I enjoyed large parts of Tallis and Callie's story, but I wanted to read more about Catherine and Tavistock. I hated the last couple of chapters, which felt rushed and awkward. "
— Angie, 2/18/2014" At first I did not enjoy this book, however, the more I find myself thinking about it, it must have really struck a chord with me. "
— Lorie, 2/16/2014" One of my favorite books ever... "
— Kristya, 2/14/2014" I'm only giving this three stars because it actually made me feel emotions. It made me cry and it made me really angry. But overall, I don't think I liked the way she cut this into three stories. I would've been happy with just Talis and Callie. "
— Allison, 2/5/2014" I love all of Jude Devereaux's occult based books. This isn't the best (Knight in Shining Armor is the best), but it's one of my favorites. Author must go back in time to change past lives to realign her life with that of her soulmate. It's a mystery in time travel. "
— Jodith, 2/4/2014" This is my all time favorite book!!! "
— Daishonique, 2/1/2014" I'd read this after it was published in 1994, and as a young adult, absolutely loved it. I remembered it well enough to pick it up again 15 years later as an adult and still really enjoyed the grand romance and passion of the main characters. Good for a weekend read to relax and get away from everyday life. "
— Erica, 1/28/2014" I cried!! That's how emotional this book was! OMG you just never saw it coming! "
— Dahlia, 1/15/2014" Suuuuuch a cool book. I read this years and years ago and thanks to my friend, Carla, rediscovered it recently. Can't wait to read again! I'm convinced this book is about my life, LOL. "
— Sophia, 1/13/2014" This has to be one of Jude Deveraux's best novels by far!! The love story is told with such heartfelt feeling that I was moved to tears EVERYTIME I read it!! "
— Doreen, 11/21/2013" It was amazing i could't put it down that i finished in a day. "
— Owusua, 11/12/2013" While the premise here is interesting, I found the tone of the narration of this book to be grating on my nerves. And if you ever need an example of "telling not showing" here's your winner. "
— Miriam, 7/24/2013" This was a beautiful story that spans several life times. I love the past life regression aspect and it is very interesting when she "travels". Beautiful story, very well done, as always, the ending leaves me wanting more, but I'm beginning to think that's a flaw in me and not the authors. "
— Alexis, 5/25/2013" When I first started reading this book, I thought I wasn't going to b able to finish it! BUT as I kept reading, it got better and better! And I can honestly say, It Is On my Top 5 FAVORITE books EVER!! And thats pretty good, cuz I've read ALot of books!! "
— Teresa, 3/15/2013" Another one of Jude's great paranormal romances! This book was amazing. I would read it over and over. "
— Ria, 3/8/2013" This one was my all time favorite book of Jude Deveraux but like I said read at your own risk. "
— Courtney, 2/20/2013" each time i finish a book of deveraux, i sigh... but this one, i sighed and cried... i loved it! "
— Junno, 1/13/2013" Read this back in college and it was hands down one of my favorite historical romances of all time. I highly recommend to anyone that likes this genre. "

— Libby, 5/20/2012" This is one of my favourite books ever. I cry every time I read it. "
— Christal, 11/4/2011" Interesting look at the philosophy of how past lives might affect the present. Fantasy and improbable. I found myself skipping a big portion of the book and going right to the last two chapters. "
— Barbara, 10/27/2011" What in the name of hell was Jude Deveraux drinking when she was writing this? "
— Yasmin, 10/10/2011" Towards the end is very sad. A box of kleenex is needed. A keeper! "
— Mical, 9/23/2011" This is my all time favorite romance novel. I've read it 5 times so far. "
— Jennifer, 9/9/2011" I'd hate to disappoint anybody with this book....it is a racy romance novel, I am sorry to admit I have read some of these...this is the best one. It was very imaginative and it was about "soul mates" and how they started...it was very good. "
— Kiersten, 5/23/2011" When I first started reading this book, I thought I wasn't going to b able to finish it! BUT as I kept reading, it got better and better! And I can honestly say, It Is On my Top 5 FAVORITE books EVER!! And thats pretty good, cuz I've read ALot of books!! "
— Teresa, 5/2/2011" Hayden Lane is a modern day writer who's obsessed with a character she discovers from psychic is really her soul mate. In a past life she's Catherine deGrey. In another past life she's Callie and she's in love with Tavis/Tally/Adam. "
— Tatrd, 4/11/2011" I enjoyed large parts of Tallis and Callie's story, but I wanted to read more about Catherine and Tavistock. I hated the last couple of chapters, which felt rushed and awkward. "
— Angie, 3/29/2011" Jude Devereaux has quite the imagination! She takes you into these fantasy worlds filled with humor, romance, and drama. The ending on this one was a little strange (actually it's all quite strange and not at all realistic), but it was still fun reading. "
— Dawn, 2/9/2011" My all time favorite Jude Deveraux! Makes you believe in soul mates and to be careful what you say haha...could come back to haunt you in other lives! "
— Vanessa, 1/20/2011" This is a romance story with hypnotism, past lives, and a palm reader. Thoroughly enjoyable. "
— Crimsonsigh, 12/15/2010" I think my four star rating is more out of nostalgia than true merit. This is the first romance novel that broke my heart and drew me to tears. Of course, I was a romantic 14 year old girl...having re-read this as an adult, I don't find it quite as heart-rending as I used to. "
— Julie, 10/26/2010" I love this book. The past lives premise is very romantic although I don't believe that stuff. There's a few PG-13 moments that need to be skipped over. This is one of the few authors that I will read and put up with that kind of writing. "
— Shauna, 9/2/2010" i never thought i'll like something related to past life and the theory of soulmates. but i think this book has full chances of provin me wrong "
— Sakshi, 7/19/2010" This book was one of the best books I have ever read. It has everything I love in a book. It has Star-crossed lovers, Fortune tellers, past lives, and complex characters that make you love and hate them at the same time. Soooo Perfect! "
