A contemporary novel of romance and renewal from perennial bestseller Jude Deveraux, First Impressions is an emotionally charged story of one woman's bid to start over.

Eden Palmer knows how to make it on her own. This forty-five year-old single mother has worked hard to raise her beloved daughter. Melissa, Eden's daughter, has long been the jewel of her life but there comes a time when a mother must come into her own. So Eden moves to Arundel, North Carolina to take ownership of Farrington Manor. Torn between the desire to stay with her daughter and the need to build a separate life on her own, Eden opts for some much needed perspective.

Her move is met with delight in some quarters, and jealousy in others. Pursued by two eligible bachelors, Eden is flattered, and more than a little suspicious. Juggling the attentions of two men is hard enough, but soon Eden's bid to start over plunges her in the middle of a mystery that threatens not just her plans and reputation, but her very life. Can she use one man to save her from the other? Download and start listening now!

    RT Book Reviews, 4 stars

  • “Jennifer Wiltsie’s smooth, crisp diction provides Eden with a lilting voice, the voice of a woman who has successfully overcome some of life’s obstacles. She gives Jared a smooth and sensuous tone, hinting at the possibility of romance with Eden, but preserves his hidden identity.”

" It's okay. Romance, mystery, a bit of suspense. I found her writing to be a bit repetitive. For instance the protagonist Eden, constantly reviews her relationship with her daughter. I understand why but it just made the story L - O - N - G and without good reason. By the end of the book I was a bit tired of her. It's a quick read, sometimes light hearted and will serve in a pinch. "

" Not overwhelming but it was alright. The main character was complex and had a lot going on her life. Her daughter was so annoying...I didn't even want to read the parts with her. But, a decent plot...I was glad that not too much was given away until the ending...I was never really sure what the end result would be. "

" I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It's not so much a romance as a mystery, with a couple of murders and some stolen, or lost, jewels. One scene has implied skankiness, but nothing that can't be skipped it that sort of thing concerns you. "

" 435 pages but it was OK. I think Jude Deveraux could have condensed this story a little more. At times I was bored with the story but I kept reading. A little cheesy. Thought there would be more romance, so that was disappointing. Looking to forward to reading some books with more substance! "
