"I think Beverly Cleary did a great job explaining what kids go through sometimes. "
— Meghan (5 out of 5 stars)
“Beverly Cleary has somehow managed to remember the intricate workings of a young girl’s mind and heart. [She] balances raucously funny childhood adventures with poignantly real circumstances and emotions.”
— Amazon.com editorial review“Happy days, Ramona is back! Cleary provides laugh-out-loud scenes, memorable characters, and keen perceptions. When it comes to writing books kids love, nobody does it better.”
— Booklist“The Quimbys are as credible...as they were in the mid-1950s.”
— Kirkus Reviews" Not the best of the Ramona series, but young fans will love it. This one is probably more episodic in structure than most, but they are childrens books so plenty of that is to be expected. It is a fast and fun read for kids but adults will be bored to tears by it. "
— Jeff, 3/19/2011" Ramona is growing up and maturing! "
— Jeanne, 3/18/2011Beverly Cleary (1916–2021) was an American author of highly acclaimed fiction for children and young adults, including the Henry Huggins series, Ramon Quimby series, stand-alone novels, picture books, and two memoirs. Some of her many awards include the Newbery Medal, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and the National Medal of Arts. She was born in McMinnville, Oregon, and lived on a farm in Yamhill, a town so small it had no library. Her mother arranged to have books sent to their tiny town from the state library and acted as a librarian in a room over a bank. It was there that she learned to love books. Generations of children have grown up with Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins, Ralph Mouse, and all of their friends, families, and assorted pets. Her books continue to capture the hearts and imaginations of children of all ages throughout the world.
