Publisher Description

Despite considerable press coverage and a lengthy trial, the full story of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints has remained largely untold. Only one man can reveal the whole, astounding truth: Sam Brower, the private investigator who devoted years of his life to breaking open the secret practices of the FLDS and bringing Warren Jeffs and his inner circle to justice. In Prophet’s Prey, Brower implicates Jeff in his own words, bringing to light the contents of Jeffs’s personal priesthood journal, discovered in a hidden underground vault, and revealing to readers the shocking inside world of FLDS members, whose trust he earned and who showed him the staggering truth of their lives. Prophet’s Prey offers the gripping, behind-the-scenes account of a bizarre world from the only man who knows the full story.

"Prophet's Prey describes how Warren Jeff used sex, money and power disguised under the cover of religion and convinced thousands of people to follow him as a prophet. Sam Brower, a private investigator from Cedar City followed the FLDS communities in Short Creek, Arizona, Hillsdale,Utah, Canada, and Texas for seven years, focusing on those who tried to escape, were kicked out of the community or reassigned to find repentance. His report on former FLDS members, the findings at the YFX Ranch in Texas and the details of the capture of Warren Jeff tell the unbelieveable story. The photos support the text and help describe the account of bringing Warren Jeff to justice for his criminal activities."

" My heart goes out to all those poor, uneducated, trapped women and children. It is hard to believe that this is going on in the US. "

" For the most part, the book goes along at a great clip and provides additional background into this cult and the madness of Jeffs in particular. At times,I had a hard time putting it down. Other parts of it were really hard to read and I had to take a break. Having read the other accounts of women who escaped, I was familiar with some of this already but Brower's perspective was very interesting and filled some holes. "

" Fascinating account of the FLDS. It's incredibly detailed, while remaining interesting. It's also straight forward and fair, and makes a clear delineation between the LDS Church and the FLDS. The author is LDS, which seems to help that clarification. Overall, an intensely interesting read. "

" Wow. The world if the FLDS is hard to comprehend. This book was enlightening, disheartening and downright frustrating at times. As we live in the midst of this horrific reign, I am blown away that all of this is so easily brushed aside and overlooked. Shame on us. "

" A must read but very difficult to read It left me amazed how ONE man can hold the lives of thousands if people in his hands. One man who controls unlimited money. It is very scary even in today's world one person can control so many people's minds all in the name of religion. "
