"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."—John 1:5 (ESV)
It all begins in Bacon's corner, a tiny farming community far from the interstate. An attempted murder, a suspicious case of mistaken identity, and a ruthless lawsuit against a struggling Christian school threaten the peace of the small town. Sally Beth Roe, a young loner, finds herself in the middle of events beyond her control, fleeing for her life while trying to recall her dark past. She doesn't realize that a demonic army is growing in power and that a spiritual battle is rapidly approaching.
Across a vast panorama of heart-stopping action, Sally Roe's journey is a penetrating portrayal of our times, a reflection of our wanderings, and a vivid reminder of the redemptive power of the Cross. The intensity of this bestselling novel comes alive when read by author Frank Peretti. The abridged audio recording includes sound effects and music that brings to life all the excitement and intrigue of Frank Peretti's beloved novel.

"Piercing the Darkness came after This present Darkness and is along the same lines as the first one. A good book of good vs evil where the good will win eventually. An eye opener to the dark side of the world and fair warning not to get caught up in irrelevant things. Good read. "
— Sonia (5 out of 5 stars)
“This is a good story.”
— Library Journal" Again. . .love these. :-) "
— Brandy, 2/20/2014" Another great work of fiction by Peretti. Not as good as the first book in my opinion but definitely a must read! "
— Jonathan, 2/14/2014" Sequel to This Present Darkness. Not as good, but still very engaging. "
— Alex, 2/14/2014" This book was good, very similar to the first book, driving home the same points so I enjoyed it just as much. I did find the letters that the main character 'Sally' was writing sort of out of place and didn't like that the author waited so long to tie it all together (not til the very end). It was the only odd part of this book for me. Overall still very compelling and hard to put down. "
— Tara, 2/10/2014" Great book! First one was better...but they are both very similar. Very intense, very dark, but very thought provoking. "
— Lindsay, 2/3/2014" This book is all about spiritual warfare. It opens the eyes and the imagination to believe it is all around us. I love his style and fluidity. I've read this book more than once and enjoy it each time. "
— Keith, 1/31/2014" Too similar to Peretti's "This Present Darkness," but interesting nonetheless. "
— Scott, 1/27/2014" One of my favorite authors "
— Aaron, 1/24/2014" I preferred Frank Peretti's first book. This was still an interesting read, but I wouldn't read it again. "

— Brandon505, 12/15/2013" Excellent sequel to This Present Darkness. Finished it in the car on the way to camping trip at the beach even though I normally get car sick reading. Just couldn't put it down. "
— Mom, 12/9/2013" See my notes about "This Present Darkness." They apply here too. Very simplistic writing about a subject that isn't simplistic. I liked the premise, but couldn't stand dumbing down my vocabulary to finish it. But finish it I did. "
— Steve, 12/8/2013" Just as good as the first! "
— Carol, 12/7/2013" Just as intriguing as the first - but more heart breaking. "

— Alexandra, 10/27/2013" I loved this book. I think in ways I loved it more than the first one. He obviously had plenty of ideas left over from This Present Darkness, and it was suspenseful and superbly written. I believe the Darkness Series will be classics someday. "

— Natalie, 7/27/2013" The in-depth account of angels and demons is wonderful!!! "
— Justin, 7/9/2013" In truth I give this a 3 and a half stars. I didn't go 4 because I'm far less likely to reread this one. It was very good, don't get me wrong, I just liked the first one better. This one didn't make the spiritual impact on me like the first one did. "
— Gardavson, 6/11/2013" Such a great book, challenges your way of thinking about life here on earth and in heaven!! "
— Bailey, 4/13/2013" A touching and imaginative book. Great reminder of the wonderful love of God through one person's perspective of spiritual warfare. "
— Shannon, 3/29/2013" Just as good as This Present Darkness, but brings more of a personal redemption angle to it. Amazing how Peretti is able to show how God works through seeming coincidences. "
— Lydia, 12/31/2012" Sequels are never as good as the original. More on the same lines. "
