"I have an obsession with the Patrick Bowers series. I picked up my very first one in a public library and immediately started searching for more. I love Patrick's character and this story was interesting since you get to see who Patrick was before he became a special agent. Steven James writes a great mystery, and it's clear that he does plenty of research into the minds of serial killers before he writes his books."

" It was nice seeing a chunk of Pat's background story. And I fully understand why Steven James had nightmares while he was writing it. I had nightmares just reading it, and I had to put it down a few times to prevent nightmares on other nights. "

" I'd say this book wasn't quite as good as the rest in the series. I have a hard time saying exactly why, except maybe that the plot was just a little too twisty. Still a 4 star book though, well worth the read. Fascinating and entertaining. "

" Amazing! Love this series although this one was disturbing. Use of real criminals and discussion of cannibalism makes it too real. However the story is amazing. You never see the twists coming. It also fits nicely as a prequel to the others in this series. "

" It had to start somewhere, and it's interesting to know the important stuff. . .how Pat started drinking coffee, how he managed to be so young with a Ph.D. and an FBI appointment. Still, I think this was a gratuitous book, guaranteed to sell and fill the gap while we all wait for The King. "
