Coco Barrington was born into a legendary Hollywood family: her mother Florence is a mega-bestselling author, and her sister Jane is one of Hollywood’s top producers. Jane has lived with her partner, Liz, for ten years, in a solid relationship. Florence, widowed but still radiant, has just begun a secret romance with a man twenty-four years her junior. And Coco, a law school dropout and the family black sheep, works as a dog walker, having fled life in the spotlight for the artsy northern California beach town of Bolinas. When Coco reluctantly agrees to house-sit in Jane’s luxurious home, it turns out Jane’s house comes complete with an unexpected houseguest: Leslie Baxter, a dashing but down-to-earth British actor who’s fleeing a psycho ex-girlfriend. Their worlds couldn’t be more different. The attraction couldn’t be more immediate. Suddenly Coco is seeing things differently: Leslie is not just a celebrity, he’s a single dad to an adorable six-year-old girl. Her mother is a woman in love, with vulnerability and new insight. And Jane and Liz are about to take the bravest plunge of all – into parenthood. As Coco contemplates a future with one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, as her mother and sister settle into their lives, old wounds are healed and new families are formed – all bonded by love. With wit and intelligence, Danielle Steel explores love in all its guises, taking us into the lives of three unusual but wonderfully real couples. One Day at a Time is at once moving, thought provoking, and utterly impossible to put down.

"This was my very first Danielle Steel book and I very much loved the author's writing style! The story was a bit predictable however I felt wrapped into the story thanks for the descriptive details - its almost as if you are there to watch everything unfold! Great start - looking forward to reading more of her books!"
— Jane (4 out of 5 stars)
" didn't like it at all! "
— Aliceinbookland, 2/10/2014" Okay, but typical DS "
— Bev, 2/8/2014" Can't help it I love Danielle Steel, difficult to stop! "
— Teri, 2/8/2014" Romance plus a cute kid character "
— Carla, 2/7/2014" Basic Danielle Steel book....lighter story but good.... "
— Barb, 2/6/2014" I can't believe she sells so many books! I totally could write this! That being said, I continued to read it even though my husband kept asking me "why are you still reading it if it's so bad?" Um...I was interested in what was going to happen; BUT; the writing was terrible. It was like reading a bad soap opera, and soap operas are pretty bad to begin with. Not a fan of Danielle Steel. Sorry Library Lady, I'm open to another suggestion though. "
— Rachel, 2/5/2014" "A wonderful story of 3 women in one family who all find love upon powerfully unique paths, despite one another's criticisms and lack of approval, and in the end all have their truest desires of a fulfilling relationship, while taking in "One Day at a Time." ~Dulcinea, 2009 "
— Dulcinea, 2/3/2014" steamy love story "
— Jojo, 1/22/2014" Straight-forward prose and descriptions; glamorous characters; realistic dialogue; relationship-focused. "
— Amanda, 1/19/2014" I am promising myself to never read another Danielle Steel book. "
— Courtney, 1/17/2014" Great book had me hooked from the beginning. "
— Lauren, 12/16/2013" I read this book at the beach- it was a quick read- not much thought required... "
— Michelle, 12/15/2013" Typical Danielle Steel.... "
— Rowlak5, 12/3/2013" Another good book. Yes, it is a formula but it is one that Danielle Steel does very well. "
— Christiana, 12/3/2013" A great read. One of Steel's classic novels that was enjoyable throughout. Does not have the "thriller" feel. I would re-read this one. "
— Jennifer, 11/6/2013" Only made it about 40 pages into this one and already I felt as though I could predict the whole story....kind of a cheesy love story right from the start. Don't get me wrong, I like a good love story but this was just not my style. "
— Jenna, 7/17/2013" Typical Danielle Steel feel good, easy read book! "
— Char, 6/1/2013" Took me a while to get into it but once I got past the first couple of chapters, I could not put the book down. "
— Elsa, 3/4/2013" I really liked this book. I could envision Hugh Grant playing the lead male role in a movie. "
— Daphne, 1/26/2013" I vowed I was done buying Danielle Steel books but Target had it for $5 so I bought it. It was your typical Danielle Steel book, nice read but nothing spectacular. "
— Janalee, 3/12/2012" This book repeated the same thing over and over. Way too much fluff for me! "
— DianeK, 2/10/2012" Granted you know DS books always have a happy ending and this is no different - - I really enjoy 'fluff' reading.....this was about the prodigal sister falling in love with the magna superstar and the trials and tribulations that go along with it....but still it was very good. "
— Janie, 11/12/2011" At times the first half was quite boring and quite wordy. The last 1/8th of the book went quickly. Danielle Steel is too liberal for me. "
— Olean, 10/6/2011" An okay story. Many of her other books are better than this one. I like to alternate a serious book and a fluff pice, which I listen to when I knit. "
— Deena, 9/19/2011" This is a fantastic book! Really helped me through a hard break up. Seems silly but was lovely to read "
— Toni, 9/3/2011" Typical DS book. Good but not mind-blowing fantastic. I needed something light and easy after The Help and this was perfect for that. "
— Lori, 8/22/2011" One of the most romantic & amazing novels EVER!! "
— Radwa, 6/8/2011" Couldn't find abridged cd on the list of editions. Is that why this book was less than expected? "
— Sue, 5/11/2011" easy to read, something light, this may be the book for you to read if you like romance story. It's great book to read. "
— Tiba, 5/8/2011" Wonderful book full of surprises! twists and turns unexpected! Recommended this to many others "
— Amy, 4/10/2011" Not really the genre I read, but it was suggested and I decided to read it. Held my interest, wasn't a difficult read. "
— Patricia, 4/9/2011" I loved this book, but then again, I love every Danielle Steel book I have ever read, so I wasn't surprised when this was a good one also. "
— Samantha, 2/19/2011" I listened to it on my Ipod. It was a feel good book that was easy to listen to. "
— Pat, 1/9/2011" Took me a while to get into it but once I got past the first couple of chapters, I could not put the book down. "
— Elsa, 12/21/2010" It's an okay book. An older sister, very successful, is jealous of her much younger sister who chooses to live life uncomplicated and shuns a high profile career path. Meeting the man of her dreams by chance makes her rethink her quiet lifestyle. I would read it again. "
