Publisher Description

On a sailboat ten miles off the Florida Keys, Grace MacBride, partner in Monkeewrench Software, thwarts an assassination attempt on retired FBI agent John Smith. A few hours later, in Minneapolis, a fifteen-year-old girl is found in a vacant lot, her throat slashed. Later that morning, two young men are found in their home a few blocks away, killed execution style. The next morning, three more men are found savagely murdered in the same neighborhood. As Minneapolis homicide detectives Leo Magozzi and Gino Rolseth struggle to link the crime scenes, they discover that there have been similar murders in other cities across the United States. Piece by piece, evidence accumulates, pointing to a suspect whose identity shocks them to the core, uncovering a motive that puts the entire Midwest on high alert and Monkeewrench in the direct line of fire. Before it’s all over, Grace and her partners, Annie, Roadrunner, and Harley Davidson, find themselves in the middle of a shocking collision of violence on a remote northern Minnesota Indian reservation, fighting for their lives.

"The Monkeewrench team is at it again! They get caught up in tracking down killers that are killing terrorists even before the FBI has their names on a list. Is it OK to kill before the terrorists kill others? That is the question. As always, a fast-paced plot with quirky characters and witty dialog. Now waiting for the next one in the series."

" P J Tracy never fails to give their readers a great book filled with events that could be today's headlines (but thank goodness they aren't). I love the characters - they are real, with strengths, weaknesses, and flaws, and are very likable. Keep writing! I'm waiting for your next book! "

" Loved it. Loved the character development. I could relate to them. The ending was a surprise which was unique. Similar to Stephanie Plum books. Not as funny but still as good. I got this free from first reads and I have found a new author. "

" Monkeewrench is back! It has been quite a while since the book #5, but the Monkeewrench team is back. The book got us right into the storyline and keeps a great pace. I will be looking for the next in the series. "

" Totally enjoy the Monkeewrench series. Find the characters unique and the plots intriguing. This book wasn't quite the page turner that some of the others have been but definitely worth reading for the thrill and adventure. "

" I like the P.J. Tracy books because they are set (primarily) in Minnesota and Wisconsin. "Off the Grid" fit the bill and even had native American elements that I usually attribute to William Kent Krueger. A fast, enjoyable, young adult feeling read. "
