Selected from the National Public Radio archives, these stories by some of NPR's favorite commentators will keep listeners laughing.
A "driveway moment" is when you're so captivated by a story on NPR that you stay in your car to hear it to the end—even if you're sitting in your own driveway. Some are serious, some are touching, and some, like the stories included here, are very, very funny.
Literate, intelligent, and droll, each tale is worth hearing again and again, and now you don't have to stay in your car. NPR Funniest Driveway Moments includes stories and interviews from your favorite NPR commentators and guests such as David Sedaris, Sarah Silverman, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Dame Edna, Larry David, Darryl Littleton, Justice Stephen Breyer, Jonathan Winters, Phyllis Diller, Steve Martin, Lily Tomlin, and more.

"I listened to this in the car on the way to and from work. There are parts of this CD that I laughed so much I thought I would have to pull over. Some parts are sort of sad because the person has passed and we will never hear them live again. Overall, a very good listen."

" Really not all that funny at all. It was just radio interviews of comedians reminiscing about their past career. "
— Beth, 12/29/2013" The audio clips were mostly interviews with comedians or people who write about humor. My favorite clip was about Lily Tomlin. I really liked her in 9 to 5 and it was great to hear her talk her experiences. Not my generation, but she's great. "
— Chrissy, 12/14/2013" NPR can be way funnier than this. Frankly, a let down. "
— Jess, 12/10/2013" Mainly interviews with figures made fascinating by their unique sense of humor. Didn't find it as captivating as advertised, but still very fun listening, worth checking out. "
— Albert, 12/9/2013" I listened to this audio book CD and enjoyed it! "
— Sara, 12/2/2013" Some interesting interviews with comedians, but not really driveway moments. I think the David Sedaris piece, which I'd already heard was the best. I think that This American Life has more driveway moments. This was fun, but pausable. "
— Catharine, 11/28/2013" Perfect for a long car ride or a rainy day, these stories lift your spirits and teach you something new. "
— Jacqueline, 11/17/2013" Many of these interviews were, well, not at all funny. Sorry, Jonathan Winters, but I don't think I even cracked a smile during your interview, yet alone a single laugh. At least most of the other interviews were tolerable. Definitely a disappointing audiobook. "
— Ben, 9/5/2013" Funny. But, not leaving a lasting impact on me. "
— Kristin, 4/15/2013" Not as funny as I expected "
— Linda, 10/23/2012" This audio is for lovers of NPR. Some funny segments. Mostly interviews with comedians. "
— Harley, 1/7/2012" I enjoy these 2-disc segments to no end. The opening with Dame Edna is classic... "
— Bryce, 11/8/2011" I was disappointed in this. I found very few of the comedians nearly as funny as the interviewers did, I didn't learn much about them, and I didn't gain much insight into the immortal question "what is funny". "
— Philip, 7/1/2011" Some great stories, some stories that I could not believe were included. "
— Sean, 9/14/2010" for an audio book full of funny moments, I am disappointed in the lack of humor thus far. Update, I only found Dame Edna funny, "
— linnea, 5/14/2010" I have to agree with other reviewers; I definitely don't agree with NPR's assessment that these are the funniest moments. I only found the interview with Billy Connolly worth listening to. "
— Beth, 12/4/2009" I think that Funniest Driveway Moments is a bit of a misnomer. Most of the stories were on the topic of comedy, but they weren't all hilarious. My favorites were Dame Edna, Justice Bryar, Jonathan Winters & Billy Connelly. "
— Mimo, 11/9/2009" Great to listen to. A collection of interviews with various comedians including Dame Edna, Steve Martin, and Rob Reiner. "
— Jessi, 9/30/2009" A great car trip book. Loved the Dame Edna portion. "
— Niki, 6/20/2009" This was not funny. It was just interviews with comedians where they just talked about their childhoods which were mostly depressing. "
