Mist lives a normal life. She has a normal job, a normal boyfriend, and a normal apartment in San Francisco. She never thinks about her past if she can help it. She survived. That's the end of it. But then a snowy winter descends upon San Francisco. In June. And in quick succession, Mist is attacked by a frost giant in a public park and runs into an elf disguised as a homeless person on the streets . . . and then the man Mist believed was her mortal boyfriend reveals himself to be the trickster god Loki, alive and well after all these years. Mist's normal world is falling apart. But thankfully, Mist isn't quite so normal herself. She's a Valkyrie, and she's going to need all her skill to thwart Loki's schemes and save modern Earth from the ravages of a battle of the gods.

“Mist, despite believing herself to be the least of the Valkyrie, is stubborn and determined to fight for her adopted world. It’s a fast-paced, gripping thriller, with a few interesting twists and turns and some excellent divine conspiracy.”

Susan Krinard never dreamed of becoming a writer. Trained as an artist with a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts and Crafts, she first considered the possibility when a friend read a short story she’d written—“Fan Fiction” based on the television show Beauty and the Beast—and suggested she try writing a romance novel. Since then, Susan has written more than a dozen fantasy romance novels and several novellas, including Kinsman in the New York Times bestseller Out of This World, and has begun a new fantasy series with LUNA Books, which launched with Shield of the Sky in 2004.
