A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that makes for a thrilling listening experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows. " A wonderment of a read. Listening to a great book during my commute makes for time well spent. Couldn't believe when the book finished. "What? It's over already?" So, I had to buy the next book in the series. "
— Laura , 4/11/2016" I'm not usually creeped out by written text but this book was a bit odd enough to do just that. The pictures were the icing on the cake. "
— Kristen, 2/10/2014" Hard to describe. It was more 'Experience' than anything. A bit eerie, but a hearty tale at the same time. Fab. "
— Lauren, 2/9/2014" Maybe it is my state of mind, but I just had a really hard time getting into this one! I had really been looking forward to it, so I may have to try again later..I really wanted to read the sequel. We shall see! "
— Deana, 2/2/2014" A different sort of book. I couldn't decide if it was meant for a much younger generation, but I enjoyed the fantasy. The pictures made the book even better. "
— Lenora, 1/28/2014" I had a hard time gaining empathy for the characters. Some of the scenes in the book were not fun to read. It could have been written better. "
— Ann, 1/24/2014" This was an odd yet interesting story. It was not what I had expected. I liked it. "

— Terri, 1/12/2014" Very fun book. The pictures were very strange. The plot was fast paced and fun, not quite what I had expected but very fun. "
— Emilia, 1/7/2014" A lot of my students liked this novel, but I found the plot rather contrived. I think it was the concept of building a story around photos that flattened it. Nice try, but, meh. "
— Jeannie, 12/25/2013" It's X-Men meets Looper. A quick and enjoyable read. Would make a great movie. "
— Melissa, 12/16/2013" all i can say is that this book is really creepy, that's all "
— Cindy, 11/29/2013" Weird, in a good way. I kind of hope it isn't a series, but I suspect it might be. "
— Kara, 8/23/2013" Two stars without the creepy photos. Gets bo-ring toward the end. "
— Heather, 5/3/2013" Suspenseful page turner! So descriptive it's like I'm watching it on the big screen. "

— Sarah, 6/23/2011" Such a well written and fascinating book. The photos were a wonderful addition to the story line. "
— Dawn, 6/22/2011" Despite being published for adults, it is virtually indistinguishable from a YA book. For fans of the Monstrumologist, with a touch of TimeRiders (but older). "
— Ann, 6/22/2011" The concept was interesting but I felt the story went flat. It had so much potential but I felt it was unrealized. The photos were really neat though. "
— melody, 6/21/2011" This book was very cool. Old photographs are tied into the story. VERY interesting. It wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it! "
— Erin, 6/21/2011" If this book isn't the first in a series, I will cry. Time travel! Monsters! Creepy things! Well-written, well-paced, funny, and scary. My enthusiasm has made me incapable of writing actual sentences, but WHATEVS! The moral of the story is: more please!!!!!! "
— Rachel, 6/20/2011" Wonderful novel with the potential of becoming a series. I loved the characters, the peculiar children. I am sure all of you have seen the old pictures of the levitating child, or the strongest girl on earth. Well these are the characters in which the novel is based. "
— Marla, 6/20/2011" I didn't realize this was a YA novel when I picked it up, but I immediately wanted to recommend it to my kids and my middle school book club. A good balance of fantasy and real world, dark without being morbid, it makes sense that plans are already in the works for a film version. "
— Laurie, 6/19/2011" An interesting and unique time-traveling adventure, but the creepy vintage photos make this book truly remarkable and unforgettable. "
