Mr. and Mrs. Watson’s porcine wonder, Mercy, loves nothing more than a ride in the car. It takes a fair amount of nudging and bribing and a “You are such a good sport, darling” to get the portly pig out of the driver’s seat, but once the convertible is on the road, Mercy loves the feel of the wind tickling her ears and the sun on her snout.

"My granddaughters and I read four of six in this series during their recent visit. These are read outloud, laugh outloud and enjoy books for kids and adults. The stories are charming and hilarious and the illustrations just lovely. Of course, Mercy who is a pig that lives with the Watsons and sleeps in their bed, gets into much mischief. She likes "toast with a great deal of butter on it." We all though that was a great idea!"

" I read this to my five year old girls and they were hanging on my every word...as was I! What a fabulous adventure with great characters. My favorite was Officer Tomilello. The artwork was perfect. Pairing the fabulous writer, Kate DiCamillo, with the superb illustrator, Chris Van Dusen...makes for a 5 star book, hands down. "

— Tracy, 2/9/2014" This series is a household favorite! "
— Jean-Marie, 2/8/2014" We picked this up at the library because I heard the series was a good transition to chapter books. My oldest can sit for hours with picture books and storybooks, but he gets restless as soon as two facing pages are all text no pictures. We've read this one twice already. It's lighthearted. "
— Kristyn, 2/5/2014" chapter book, lower level. fun story of pig who enjoys her weekly ride but dreams of driving. has pictures. one other book--Mercy Watson to the Rescue. "

— Joy, 12/29/2013" I can see how beginning readers would get a kick out of this funny series. I've not read the first - but I suspect that's the best. Don't read if you like buttered toast and are trying to eat healthfully. "
— Cheryl, 12/13/2013" Delightful characters & illustrations. Great vocabulary (introduces some unusual words). Easy juvenile. "

— Aaron, 11/6/2013" This story is about a pig named Mercy. Her owners, Mr. and Mrs. Watson, go for a ride with mercy every weekend in their convertible. Mercy decided she wants to drive the car and they soon run into some trouble. This book is a great read for students, but they may need some help with vocabulary. "
