To Mr. and Mrs. Watson, Mercy is not just a pig–she’s a porcine wonder. And to the portly and good-natured Mercy, the Watsons are an excellent source of buttered toast, not to mention that buttery-toasty feeling she gets when she snuggles into bed with them. This is not, however, so good for the Watsons’ bed. BOOM! CRACK! Welcome to the wry and endearing world of Mercy Watson.

"Just to show you the variety in reading levels and topics for Battle of the Books - this is another one. I've read a number of Kate DiCamillo's books, and Mercy Watson is a totally different ball of wax. So don't have Despereaux or Winn Dixie in mind when you pick this up (although what is it about her picking animals as pivotal or main characters?).. This book is written almost like a comic book. The illustrations are engaging and funny, and really take a quirky, amusing story and complement it well... It's a quick read and amusing."

" The adventures of a pig who is treated like a child. Mercy usually causes the trouble, but also comes out as a hero, to the chagrin of her two elderly neighbors, one of whom thinks pigs should not live in houses. I listened to this via audiobook. "
— Kate, 2/13/2014" My daughter is reading this book to me rather than the other way around. It is one of the books on her summer reading list from school. I am so impressed with how she is doing. When she really likes the story, it inspires her to read rather than having me read it to her. "
